Job Description

Data Platforms SRE

IQVIA Data Platforms Governance Team

Join IQVIA's Data Platform Team

Join IQVIA's Data Platform Governance Team to run and support our cloud data platforms (Databricks and Snowflake) as a managed service. You will be part of the operational layer that keeps platforms healthy, cost-controlled, and compliant - handling day-to-day user requests, monitoring signals, and common incidents with clear documentation and disciplined ticket handling. This role supports the operational foundation that enables engineering teams to build on these platforms effectively.

Job Overview

As a Data Platforms SRE, you will execute operational tasks and resolve issues using runbooks and escalation paths. This role is critical to maintaining the stability and performance of IQVIA's enterprise data platforms, which require engineering expertise for efficient management. You will work within the Governance Team's operational framework to ensure platforms remain secure, audit-ready, and cost-optimized by default. Your responsibilities encompass four key operational areas that directly support platform health and user productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Identity and Access Management: Process onboarding and offboarding tickets, add or remove users and accounts, reset credentials and permissions, and execute access requests for specific catalogs, schemas, tables, or external locations in line with defined controls .

Technical Support: Triage incidents, check logs for errors, provide first responses to user requests, and escalate when needed with clear evidence including logs, timestamps, and reproduction steps.

Monitoring and Housekeeping: Perform daily and weekly checks of platform dashboards to catch runaway queries, oversized clusters, or job loop errors before they generate excessive costs. Track basic cost and usage signals, and help clean up idle or unused resources following established guidance.

Governance Implementation: Support the implementation and improvement of the Governance framework and policies, build script and automation, policies control and provisioning within the Data Platforms, supporting FinOps and best practices implementation.

Documentation: Update operational documentation and ensure ticket notes are professional, specific, and customer-visible as required by support guidelines. Maintain knowledge base articles and troubleshooting guides to meet objectives for customer request fulfillment and issue resolution.
