Job Description

Purpose of the Role   This role is responsible for overseeing Japan and Korea’s People + Talent (P+T) function to drive functional change and support the organization’s transformation journey. The position will play a pivotal role in shaping the people agenda for the region, ensuring the organization is well-positioned for growth and that the HR strategy consistently aligns with business priorities.  Key Responsibilities Business Partnering: Act as a business partner, coach and change agent to local leadership teams, supporting the development and execution of business plans. Provide input on all People + Talent matters to enable business innovation and enhance colleague experience. Colleague Relations and Performance Management: Build and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization, offering expert guidance and coaching on employee relations, performance management, career development, and retention. Collaboration with P+T COEs: Work with P+T Centers of Excellence (COEs) to provide insights on local market trends and practices. Contribute to the development and implementation of effective employee value propositions, HR programs, and strategies that attract, develop, and retain talent to support business growth. Customer-Centric Solutions: Analyze both internal and external customer needs and expectations to design and implement value-added P+T solutions that close gaps and support business objectives. Colleague Engagement & Culture Promotion: Manage colleague engagement initiatives to boost team cohesion and drive the desired organizational culture across the assigned location. Collaborate with local management to implement various People + Talent projects Performance and Compensation Management: Drive the annual performance review process and lead Total Rewards reviews to align with business goals and market standards. Workforce and Succession Planning: Play an essential role in workforce planning and talent succession. Partner with senior leaders to identify future talent needs and critical capabilities required to achieve business goals. Process Improvement: Oversee the alignment and enhancement of P+T processes within the business, including design, implementation, and change management to ensure efficiency. P+T Governance and Compliance: Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of colleagues, partnering with the legal department as appropriate to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce legal risk. Monitor adherence to P+T governance, controls, and policies to ensure consistent execution across the business. Project Support: Provide support for ad-hoc P+T projects as needed.    Knowledge, Skills + Experience   Bachelor or master’s degree in any related field with at least 8 years experience Extensive experience as a people + talent Manager or at least 3 years working in a similar role Ability to speak both in Japanese and Korean preferred Strong commercial business acumen, quick to understand business requirements and translate into workable and appropriate people + talent solutions Demonstrated business partnering capabilities Good networker and builds and maintains strong relationships across all levels Resourceful in approach, and with hands on execution and delivery Customer obsessed and results orientated, quick-thinking and pro-active, with drive and energy to act in a fast-paced environment   Competencies Customer Focused: Goes beyond quality, delivery, reliability and consistency - involves focusing one’s efforts on finding what a customer needs, before the customer themselves are even aware. Using this information and addressing and meeting the requirement. Innovation: Thinks creatively to ensure business goals are achieved and take actions to develop innovative solutions. Employees may need to find genuinely novel approaches to reduce costs, change working practices and processes, as well as to develop new opportunities. Relationship Building: Has the ability to build and maintain a network of business related contacts which will be useful in meeting objectives. It implies an understanding of customers’ and the wider marketplace and using this knowledge to develop networks and relationships. Achievement Drive: Wanting to do the best possible job to improve the performance of the business and the competitive position of HHG in the market place. Always looking for a better way to get things done and puts plans into practice. If improvements can be made, inadequacies will be questioned and actioned. Team Leadership: Working with colleagues, with or without line management authority to achieve results through enthusiasm, motivation, commitment and determination. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
