The Director, Corporate Communications – Korea will lead the strategy, development and execution of integrated corporate and Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) communications strategies that support business growth, strengthen Disney+ market leadership, and protect and enhance The Walt Disney Company’s reputation in one of APAC’s most dynamic and culturally influential markets.

Based in Seoul, this role reports to the SVP, APAC Corporate Communications and the General Manager, Korea, serving as a senior strategic advisor to local leadership across all lines of business, covering Disney+ streaming and Korean original content, studio and consumer products.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring deep media expertise, strong industry relationships, and a proven ability to shape narratives in a fast-moving, high-impact environment. The Director will play a critical role in elevating Disney’s corporate story, advancing Disney+ as a leading streaming platform, and driving cultural relevance through local storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

Corporate Reputation & Strategic Media Relations

  • Lead integrated corporate communications and media relations strategies aligned with TWDC’s business and reputational priorities in Korea.

  • Shape proactive narratives that position The Walt Disney Company as a leading diversified entertainment company committed to Korea, spanning corporate, streaming, film, consumer products and content storytelling.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for top-tier and influential media across business, entertainment, and digital platforms.

  • Drive high-impact media engagement around major corporate milestones, leadership visits, content showcases, partnerships, and industry events.

Disney+ & DTC Communications

  • Lead communications strategy for Disney+ Korea, positioning the platform as a premium destination for global and Korean storytelling.

  • Partner closely with regional and local DTC, content, and marketing teams to drive awareness, engagement, and subscriber growth.

  • Elevate Disney+ differentiation through storytelling around content quality, creative partnerships, and audience experience.

Executive & Internal Communications

  • Lead executive communications for the Korea GM and leadership team, including speeches, presentations, media interviews, and leadership messaging.

  • Shape internal communications strategies that drive employee engagement, reinforce company priorities and values, and celebrate local successes.

Issues Management & Strategic Counsel

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on reputational risk, issues, and crisis communications, providing clear, timely, and well-calibrated counsel.

  • Anticipate and manage issues related to content, talent, partnerships, and market dynamics, particularly within the high-scrutiny Korean entertainment landscape.

  • Partner closely with Legal, Government Affairs, and APAC/global communications teams to ensure alignment and risk mitigation.

Corporate Social Responsibility & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Drive CSR communications aligned with TWDC’s regional priorities, building meaningful connections with communities and stakeholders in Korea.

  • Support initiatives that reinforce Disney’s purpose, including storytelling, creativity, and community impact.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications team in Seoul, fostering a collaborative, high-impact culture.

  • Serve as a strategic communications partner to the Korea Leadership Team and key stakeholders across Disney+, Studio, Consumer Products, and Integrated Marketing.

  • Ensure strong integration between corporate, streaming, and content communications to deliver a unified narrative in market.

  • Oversee agency partners and deliver best-in-class execution across all campaigns and initiatives.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or journalism, preferably within media, entertainment, or technology sectors.

  • Deep understanding of the Korean media, entertainment, and cultural landscape, with strong senior-level relationships across press, industry, and creative communities.

  • Experience in DTC/streaming or entertainment communications will be a plus

  • Strong experience managing issues and crisis communications in high-profile environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Korean and English.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and operate effectively in a matrixed, multinational organization.

  • Strong strategic thinking, sound judgment, and ability to operate with discretion under pressure.
