Driver Education Teacher

Position:  Driver Education Teacher 

Location:  Sussex Technical High School  

Reports To:  Principal 

Starting Date:  August 2026

Qualifications:   

• Hold or be eligible for license and certification as Driver Education Teacher in accordance with 14Del.C.§1553.  

• Be committed to Sussex Technical's mission, vision, and values. 

Performance Responsibilities: 

• Provide high quality standards-based and student-centered instruction to high school students.  

• Work as a collaborative part of the driver education teacher team to ensure that all students are afforded their driving experience hours in an efficient and timely manner.     

• Support the management of driver education vehicles for cleanliness, fuel, maintenance, and inspection.   

• Work cooperatively with all staff and students to ensure that there is adequate communication on behalf of students for time missed in class due to driving requirements.  

• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district. 

• Employ a variety of instructional techniques including the use of instructional media to ensure student engagement, motivation, and success.    

• Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations. 

• Maintain organized classroom environment and practice sound interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, students, and families.    

• Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. 

• Participate as a member in the Professional Learning Community. 

• Develop and implement appropriate plans for students that include appropriate supports and accommodations. 

• Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies. 

• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. 

• Other duties as assigned. 

Terms of Employment:  Ten (10) month teacher position.    

Salary and Benefits: Pension and benefit eligible position.Salary commensurate with verified educational level, qualifications, and experience according to state and local salary scales.   Salary Range: $59,272 - $110,295
