Job Description
Position: Driver Education Teacher
Location: Sussex Technical High School
Reports To: Principal
Starting Date: August 2026
Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible for license and certification as Driver Education Teacher in accordance with 14Del.C.§1553.

Performance Responsibilities:
Provide high quality standards-based and student-centered instruction to high school students.
Work as a collaborative part of the driver education teacher team to ensure that all students are afforded their driving experience hours in an efficient and timely manner.
Support the management of driver education vehicles for cleanliness, fuel, maintenance, and inspection.
Work cooperatively with all staff and students to ensure that there is adequate communication on behalf of students for time missed in class due to driving requirements.
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques including the use of instructional media to ensure student engagement, motivation, and success.
Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations.
Maintain organized classroom environment and practice sound interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
Participate as a member in the Professional Learning Community.
Develop and implement appropriate plans for students that include appropriate supports and accommodations.
Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Ten (10) month teacher position.
Salary and Benefits: Pension and benefit eligible position.Salary commensurate with verified educational level, qualifications, and experience according to state and local salary scales. Salary Range: $59,272 - $110,295
