Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Flightline Chief Mechanic (level C or D) to join and support the 787 Program Boeing South Carolina Delivery Center Operations Team working in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift!

This position will provide critical production support and project leadership to the Delivery Center including establishing enhanced training plans, improving production efficiency and optimizing product quality.

Primary Responsibilities:   

  • Creates a culture that enhances productivity, safety, and a teaming environment

  • Leads technical manufacturing recovery projects including execution of tasks & critical path, planning manpower, parts, requirements and schedule

  • Identifies gaps in proficiency and leads OJT and cross-training efforts for entry and associate level mechanics to enhance team stability

  • Provides project leadership to multiple disciplines

  • Develops and implements manufacturing processes

  • Identifies production activities and mitigates issues achieving organization’s goals

  • Leads through influence those team members that do not report directly to them

  • Assists with the preparation and justification for major capital expenditures and equipment

  • Leads long-range technical research on proposed projects

  • Rapid problem resolution using the Boeing Problem Solving Model

  • ­Provide oversight of functional support to ensure resolution of production build issues

  • Remove roadblocks by working with support and manufacturing management teams

  • Work cross-functionally to identify opportunities for improvement and establish action plans

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Must have the ability to work variable shifts (first, second, or third) based on business needs.

  • 3+ years of experience within flightline operations, aerospace fabrication or manufacturing

  • 3+ years of experience advising and influencing others to meet quality and safety requirements or resolve technical or operational problems

  • 3+ years of experience leading manufacturing teams through complex recoveries / situations

  • 3+ years of experience with Systematic Problem Solving and Standardized Work

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of experience leading and working with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with Field Operations

  • Experience with Boeing Production System (BPS) concepts

  • Experience maintaining positive relationships and providing status to internal and external customers

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range level C: $70,200 - $74,100

Summary pay range level D: $81,900 - $86,450
