Plumber Fitter Journeyman (Union)
Job Description
Due to the critical nature of Honeywell’s mission here at the Federal Research Facility at White Oak, as our nightshift (Plumber) Fitter Journeyman, you will play a crucial role in providing support during your scheduled nightshift hours and occasional overtime. The Nightshift Plumber routinely tours the campus and is responsible for handling urgent plumbing emergencies, inspections, and maintenance across multiple buildings during overnight hours. This role combines technical plumbing skills with the flexibility to travel between various buildings. The responsibilities of this operating overnight position include but are not limited to: diagnosing issues, performing repairs, as well as two tours per shift in all buildings. You will be responsible for assisting our Local 602 fitter journeyman on occasions to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems for our customers.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on 24/7 nightshift operations by providing field support, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction. Your expertise in Plumbing systems and your ability to effectively communicate with customers will be instrumental in delivering exceptional service and maintaining strong relationships.
You will report directly to our Facilities Management Supervisor locally in Silver Spring, MD. You will follow a Night Shift schedule: Sunday through Saturday 6:00pm to 6:00AM, including holidays. You will be issued a Honeywell phone for business use.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical support and expertise for nightshift plumbing systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Conduct regular tours for maintenance and inspections of plumbing systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction
- Keep up-to-date with Honeywell industry trends and best practices
- Work with all aspects of domestic water and sewers.
- Proficient with all aspects of copper, PVC, CPVC, and iron pipe.
- Ability to clear drains.
- Ability to use computerized maintenance software to execute and close PM’s and service tickets.
- Ability to use cameras for manhole inspections.
- Certified to perform backflow inspections and tests.
- Ability to install water heaters.
- Troubleshoot and fix pipe bursts, overflowing toilets, drain clogs, and water heater failures during the night.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and climb ladders.
- Ability to provide 2 walking tours during shift 10pm and 4 am.
- Must be able to work on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as assigned.
- Must be able to work 6pm – 6am as assigned.
- Must be able to take additional shifts as needed.
- Pass a HSPD-12 background investigation
YOU MUST HAVE
- 5 years of experience as a (Plumber) Fitter Journeyman, servicing commercial equipment including standard tank systems, filtration units, hot water tanks, mixing valves, water heaters, circular pumps
- WSSC State Board Certified
- Valid State Journeyman license
- Membership of the UA Local 5 or willing to join
- High school diploma or equivalent
