Job Description
Position Overview:
The Instructional Coach is a key member of the campus leadership team and is dedicated to supporting teachers in enhancing instructional practices and boosting student learning outcomes. The main responsibility of the Instructional Coach is to enhance the quality of classroom instruction through data-driven coaching cycles and collaborative professional development. This role involves providing targeted professional development, coaching, and feedback to teachers, and fostering a culture of instructional excellence across the school. The Instructional Coach will collaborate with the principal/school leader, Principal Fellow, and teachers.
Key Responsibilities:
Professional Development and Teacher Support
- Conduct formal and informal observations, providing high-leverage feedback using district-approved rubrics to foster instructional improvement.
- Facilitate professional learning communities, assisting teachers with the Cohesive Coaching Cycle and the integration of best instructional practices.
- Facilitate high-impact professional development sessions, workshops, and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) tailored to the specific needs of the staff to enhance teaching efficacy and student outcomes.
- Curate and share high-quality instructional materials, digital tools, and research-based articles to support teacher growth.
Curriculum and Instruction Enhancement
- Ensure classroom instruction aligns with state standards and district-wide curriculum frameworks.
- Provide technical support and resources to ensure the district’s literacy and numeracy curricula are implemented with fidelity and excellence.
- Demonstrate effective teaching techniques through "model lessons" and conduct classroom observations followed by reflective feedback sessions.
- Assist teachers in the effective use of data from formative and summative assessments to guide instructional decisions and student interventions.
- Engage in regular, ongoing coaching cycles with teachers to identify areas for growth, facilitate model teaches, and co-plan lessons.
- Provide guidance on integrating effective teaching methodologies and technologies into the classroom environment.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Serve as a vital member of the school leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and the overall improvement of school-wide instructional practices.
- Promote a collaborative work environment among teachers and staff, encouraging open communication and shared best practices.
- Liaise with the Principal and other administrators to align instructional strategies with school goals.
Data Analysis and Impact Assessment
- Monitor and analyze student performance data to identify areas of need and measure the impact of instructional interventions.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify specific student needs, set measurable goals, and implement evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Assist teachers with refining instructional practices based on data insights from standardized test scores, formative assessments, and classroom data to differentiate instruction.
Real World Learning Integration
- Ensure the effective operation of RWL experiences including resource allocation, staff management, and compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Support the school’s "Future-Ready" vision by embedding MVAs into the core curriculum across all pathways (Work Experiences, Dual Credit, IRCs, and Entrepreneurial Experiences).
- Act as RWL coach and campus lead alongside regional and industry partners to secure high-quality internships and client-connected projects in alignment with Pre- K - 12 Pathways.
- Ensure RWL data is accurately tracked and reported for the One KIPP standards of the Missouri School Improvement Plan.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education required; Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field preferred.
- Valid teaching certification required, with endorsements in instructional coaching or related areas considered a plus.(Principal Certification Preferred)
- 5 plus years of successful teaching experience, with proven student growth and student achievement.
- Experience in coaching teachers and delivering professional development within an educational setting strongly preferred.
