JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the financial accounting and reporting process including, but not limited to, performing reconciliations, preparing closing journal entries, gathering data to support financial statement disclosures, researching certain accounting issues and ensuring compliance with Company policies and regulatory reporting requirements, particularly with Securities and Exchange Act filings and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.This position will also require working closely with the Accounting management team to provide analytical support to various other functions within the Company. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and works closely with various functions including Accounts Payable, Billing and Revenue, Sales, and Operations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The duties of the Senior Accountant shall include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Assists in the preparation, review, and distribution of internal and external financial statements and supporting data on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Assists in financial analysis and investigation of variances to budget and prior periods.
- Prepares general ledger journal entries and reconciliations for certain moderate-to-highly complex accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, and accounts for certain non-routine accounting transactions.
- Acts as a financial liaison for foreign operations and certain third party agents.
- Assists with accounting for all foreign company transactions and intercompany transactions and generation applicable financial statements.
- Assists with cash management for foreign subsidiaries.
- Reconciles fuel for all vessels and records any appropriate fuel expense.
- Prepares and maintains written memorandum for internal control processes and tasks performed and ensures compliance with the Company’s Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 policies and procedures.
- Prepares and maintains adequate accounting records for tasks performed.
- Works with internal and external auditors in providing support for financial statements and internal controls.
- Performs special projects and analyses as directed and assists with certain tasks for upper management.
- Reports and recommends opportunities for improvement in accounting policies and procedures
- Assists with the review and supervision of work performed by accounting staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with advanced business degree preferred.
- Experience: Two or more years of experience in public or private accounting with an emphasis on SEC registrants preferred.
- Skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite applications – Excel, Word, Outlook is required.
- Working knowledge of Workday accounting application is preferred.
- Ability to get along and work well with others.
- Certification: Certified Public Accountant preferred
- Must be willing to board and ride vessels to increase understanding of how this role supports our business.

DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Eyesight: Functional, correctable to 20/20
Hearing: Functional, correctable to normal to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound.
Speech: Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
Mobility: Unencumbered by physical limitations to perform vessel survey and inspection duties to include: Walking, climbing, crawling, lifting, pulling, reaching, vehicle driving and should be skilled in typing.
HOURS OF WORK
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 5:00pm. Overtime and occasional work-related travel will occur on an as needed basis. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
