Job Description
The Plant Trainer role partners with associates across all departments to build skills, improve performance, and drive continuous improvement through the Printpack Continuous Skills Development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership & Culture Development
- Drive safety awareness and engagement throughout the plant organization
- Foster a learning environment that promotes safety-conscious behaviors
Training Program Development & Management
- Assess departmental skills and knowledge needs to meet business unit and plant goals
- Develop and maintain comprehensive skills matrices (element trees) for each department and position
- Create training materials including One Point Lessons, Work Instructions, and multimedia resources
- Design and implement competency frameworks aligned with operational requirements
Learning Management System Administration
- Assign, maintain, and promote training activities using Workday Learning
- Track training completion metrics and effectiveness measurements
- Report training analytics and collaborate with department leaders on progress
Employee Development & Onboarding
- Lead new employee onboarding and conduct comprehensive skills assessments
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to associates at various skill levels
- Schedule regular progress reviews with supervisors and departmental trainers
Continuous Skills Development
- Promote engagement and adoption of the Continuous Skills Development Pillar
- Support plant-wide improvement projects and initiatives through targeted training
- Leverage new technologies and media platforms to enhance training delivery
POSITION SCOPE:
- Position Level: Specialist role supporting plant-wide training initiatives
- Organizational Impact: Cross-functional influence across all manufacturing departments
- Decision-Making Authority: Training program development, curriculum design, and competency assessments
- Collaboration: Works directly with Plant Leadership Team, Operations, HR, and department supervisors
- System Responsibility: Manages learning management system (Workday Learning) and training metrics
- Responsibilities for Direction of Others: Oversees production training and development of New Hires and New to Position associates
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma OR equivalent experience
- Proficient formal or informal training experience preferred
- Expert-level knowledge in manufacturing processes
Software & Systems Proficiency
- Microsoft Office Suite: Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Learning Management Systems: Experience with Workday Learning (preferred) or similar LMS platforms
- Multimedia Development: Ability to create training materials using modern technologies and media platforms
Manufacturing & Operations Knowledge
- Quality Management Systems: Understanding of manufacturing quality standards and processes
- Manufacturing: Expert-level technical knowledge in specialized manufacturing processes
- Safety Systems: Understanding of industrial safety practices and regulatory requirements
Training & Development Skills
- Curriculum Design: Ability to develop comprehensive training programs and competency frameworks
- Skills Assessment: Capability to assess departmental skills and knowledge needs
- Training Material Creation: Experience creating One Point Lessons, Work Instructions, and multimedia resources
- Competency Mapping: Skills in developing and maintaining skills matrices (CI element trees)
- Data Analysis: Ability to track training completion metrics and effectiveness measurements
- Reporting: Skills in generating training analytics and progress reports

- Exceptional Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively listen, build rapport and influence at all levels
- Training Delivery: Strong presentation and facilitation skills for diverse audiences

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include, but are not limited to:
- Primary office environment with regular plant floor exposure
- Ability to work in a high-hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings
- Ability to maneuver the production floor, including the ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Visual acuity to read computer screens, reports, and documentation
- Manual dexterity to operate computer equipment, production equipment, and mobile devices
- Hearing ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards while working in a manufacturing facility with high-hazard materials
- Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)
Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed primarily in an office environment with regular plant floor exposure:
- Primary work hours are Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for changing business needs
- Work performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments
- Moderate noise levels from production equipment
- Varying temperatures depending on season and location within the facility
- Occasional exposure to dust, chemicals, and industrial materials
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere
- Standard business hours with flexibility for operational needs
- Occasional overtime during peak production periods
- Adherence to all plant safety protocols and procedures
- Participation in ongoing safety training programs
- Regular exposure to high-hazard materials and equipment requires strict adherence to safety protocols
- High-confidentiality work environment requiring discretion and professionalism
- Regular interaction with all levels of management and associates across multiple sites
- Support Corporate and local Food Safety initiatives and programs as necessary

- Must be 18+ years old and pass pre-employment screening (drug test, background check)
