
Telecommunications Technician
Job Description
Position Summary: The Telecom Technician will participate in the installation or maintenance and inspection of telecommunication systems and associated processes.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Regular attendance at assigned location that may include office or other project sites
- Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients
- Installs cable supports, through floor and wall sleeves, fire stopping materials
- Install relays, cabinets, network switches
- Terminates data, voice, coaxial, control, and fiber optic cables
- Install cable trays above and below floors
- Ability to work in small spaces
- Test cables to TIA/EIA level II standards with cable analyzer and fiber test equipment
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
- Strict adherence to all safety rules and quality
- Participate in site housekeeping
- Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive courteous manner
- Perform additional duties as directed by Management
- At times may perform clerical/administrative duties
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or relevant work experience
- 2-5 years of field experience, trade school, or apprenticeship
- OSHA 10 certification
