Job Title: Childwatch Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Childwatch Coordinator provides daily leadership and operational oversight for the Childwatch program. This role ensures a safe, engaging, and well supervised environment for children while supporting and guiding Childwatch staff. The Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Executive Director and assumes responsibility for day-to-day supervision. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for upholding our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Scheduling & Staffing
- Create and manage the weekly Childwatch staff schedule for both AM/PM shifts.
- Coordinate shift swaps, call ins, and coverage needed to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Communicate staffing updates and hiring needs promptly to the Associate Executive Director.
- Maintain and oversee the Childwatch GroupMe. The Associate Executive Director will manage it when the Coordinator is off or on vacation.
Program Operations & Environment
- Ensure the Childwatch room is clean, safe, and welcoming at all times.
- Monitor supply levels (crayons, wipes, toys, etc.) and communicate needs to the supervisor for purchasing.
- Report any broken equipment, safety concerns, or repair needs to the direct supervisor immediately.
Staff Support & Accountability
- Help enforce Childwatch employee rules, expectations, and standards of conduct.
- Address minor staff concerns or performance issues; escalate unresolved matters to the Associate Executive Director.
- Support training of new Childwatch staff as needed.
Child & Family Safety
- Ensure all safety procedures, supervision standards, and YMCA policies are consistently followed.
- Oversee completion and accuracy of incident reports; submit all reports to the Associate Executive Director.
- Maintain a positive, professional presence in the Childwatch area and model YMCA core values.
- Maintain required certifications, including CPR/First Aid, Praesidium training & Autism Awareness.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must have one year experience working in Childwatch with YMCA
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity.
