Job Description

Role type: Full Time (1.0 FTE); Fixed-Term for 3 years 
Faculty: Faculty of Science 
Department/ School: School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences 
Salary: Level B: $124,656 - $148,023 p.a. plus 17% super

You will lead innovative research on nature in cities, focusing on everyday biodiversity in urban streetscapes. 

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary partners and stakeholders, shaping policy and practice for more liveable, nature-positive cities. 

What you will deliver:  

  • Lead and publish high-quality research on everyday nature in urban streetscapes within an ARC-funded project. 

  • Design and deliver ecological and social surveys of urban streetscapes, ensuring robust, ethically sound data collection. 

  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical methods, producing high-impact publications and reports. 

  • Engage government, industry and community partners, communicating findings and informing nature-positive urban policy and practice. 

  • Co-supervise students and junior researchers, contributing to teaching, mentoring and broader School service activities. 

You may be a great fit if you:  

  • Hold a PhD in Urban Ecology or a closely related discipline. 

  • Bring demonstrated experience with ecological and social survey methods applied to urban streetscapes. 

  • Apply advanced quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis to complex ecological and social datasets. 

  • Demonstrate a strong track record, or clear potential, for high-quality publications and independent research. 

  • Engage confidently with government, industry and community stakeholders to build productive research partnerships. 

  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively, collaborating positively within interdisciplinary, multi-campus research teams.
