Job Description
Position: Care Worker
Location: Columbia, MD
Duration: 5 months to hire
Responsibilities:
· Trouble shoots for the clinical team when an appropriate provider, type of service, or appropriate level of care cannot be readily found. Links clients to appropriate services within the community.
· Participates in the treatment team and assists in coordinating psychological and psychiatric services for the patients.
· Provides telephonic survey administration to assist in stratifying members.
· Refers member to the care management for clinical assessment and sessions.
· Provides information to members and providers regarding mental health and substance abuse benefits, community treatment resources, mental health managed care programs, and NewCo policies and procedures.
· Assists in the scheduling of BHCCs facility and PCP visits, and managing phone appointments
· Helps manage phone queues and calendars of the care management staff.
· Assists in phone split when care managers are on calls.
· Assists care managers with accurate and timely billing of case management services provided
· Assists in the mentoring and training of new Care Workers and other office staff.
· Responsible for participating in ongoing training related to Care worker role, updating self on ever changing information to ensure accuracy when dealing with members and providers.
Other Responsibilities:
· Maintains current and accurate records, adhering to company policies and laws governing patient records; performs related duties as requested; Participate in the QI initiatives.
· Advocate for the patient to ensure treatment needs are met. Interact with providers in a professional, respectful manner that facilitates the treatment process.
Minimum Requirements:
· Education: Associates Degree
· Field(s) of study: Degree or experience in behavioral health or sales related field
· Experience: 3-5 years
· Industry: Managed Care
· Job Specific: Experience to include experience in managed care or behavioral health office based setting. Phone and computer skills required.
· Equivalent combination of experience and education
· Education and/or experiences may run concurrent
· Understanding of health insurance benefit structures, psychiatric terminology, local community and provider resources, and excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to multi-task.
· Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Outlook. Ability to use computers, type while talking.
