Job Description
US Farathane is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Quality Technician. This position is responsible for supporting the administrative functions of the Quality department.
US Farathane has been a leading source of plastics manufacturing, supplying the automotive industry for over 40 years. Through highly technical research and development, coupled with a diverse and knowledgeable Management Team and dedicated Associates, US Farathane has continued to grow each year. We provide customers with a wide range of full-service support from black-box design concepts to highly engineered composites, TPE’s and TPO’s as well as specialized extrusion and compression technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain production visual aid boards (aka “Job Boards”)
- Schedule and maintain log for Layered Process Audits
- Maintain data log and analyze Rework/Sort data; initiate and oversee internal sorts
- Track and document GP12/EPC progress
- Gage Trak calibrations and system updates
- Schedule and track gage fixture preventive maintenance activity
- Schedule annual validation layouts
- Manual updates of hold inventory
- Maintain material certifications
- Serve as backup person for IMDS submissions
- Assist in training new QC Auditors and Machine Auditors
- Conduct product testing as required
- Work with shift supervisors to resolve/disposition part quality issues on the floor
- Support Quality department members as needed
- Support Problem Solving Activities (8Ds)
- Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. quality manual, associate handbooks, etc.)
- Maintain work area per housekeeping standards
- Strong attendance is a key expectation for this role. To be eligible to apply for the position internally, your attendance points may not be higher than 5 positive points.
- Performs all other duties as requested by the Quality Manager
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience; two years’ related experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate and work well with others in a team environment
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, correspondence and memos
- Ability to write correspondence, and to speak and present information effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to do simple math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; Ability to add positive and negative numbers
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Understanding of problem-solving methods
- Knowledge of inspection techniques and measurement instrument usage
- Knowledge of quality systems and standards
- Knowledge of automotive core tools
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
