Vacancy: Clinical Physiologist (Neurophysiology) – Bank Shifts
Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Road, London SW5
Contract: Bank (To support on-call rota and provide occasional weekday evening cover as required.)
Pay: £45 per hour

About The Cromwell Hospital
The Cromwell Hospital is a major international private hospital in West London receive both UK and international patients. We are committed to providing the highest quality healthcare outpatient and inpatient service care.
The hospital has 180 beds and 4 suites, 6 theatres, medical and surgical wards, cardiac centre, CDU, level 2 and 3 full intensive care facilities, paediatrics, diagnostic services, physiotherapy, and a dedicated day surgery unit.
About the Department
Small but dynamic departments requiring high levels of personal professionalism and self-motivation. Complete clinical diagnostics from routine tests to complex investigations.
About the Role
You’ll deliver a high quality comprehensive clinical neurophysiological service for all age groups. This entails delivery of the core investigations which include electroencephalography (EEG), Video-Telemetry (VT), and Evoked potentials (include Visual Evoked Potentials to Pattern/Flash stimulation, Somatosensory Evoked potentials with both lower and upper stimulation and Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials).
Duties and Responsibilities
To continually monitor and maintain the delivery of high quality of Neurophysiological services to service users. These include referring consultants, general practitioners and patients. Working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure service(s) meet changing healthcare needs. Managing provision of offsite services to other institutions or organizations with no access to Neurophysiology services.
To Provide visible support and assistance to Neurophysiological staff in dealing with difficult and conflicting situations including those that are of a clinical/professional nature
Drafting of standard operating procedures which are in alignment with professional guidelines (IFCN/ANS)
Plan, perform and interpret a range of basic and advanced Neurophysiological investigations to a high level of competence to patients unsupervised and autonomously, adapting the procedure wherever necessary to increase the sensitivity and specificity of a recording procedure. This includes,
Performance Electroencephalographic (EEG) investigations employing current standard techniques without supervision in the EEG laboratory taking appropriate action(s) where necessary. Also perform EEG’s on the ward where patients of all age groups are seen in the department.
Perform emergency EEG’s on ITU’s. (Intensive Therapy Units), NNUs (Neonatal Units), PICUs (Paediatric Intensive Care Units) or general wards and appropriate action should be taken where necessary.
Perform EEG investigations using specialist techniques. These include recordings with activation procedures recordings following sleep deprivation, recordings during administration of medication (eg Melatonin), recordings during general anaesthetic, recordings during stimulation or other provocative procedures.
Perform all modality evoked potentials taking appropriate action(s) where necessary. (including Visual, Brainstem and Somatosensory evoked potentials as well as Electro-retinograms).
Taking medical history from a patient pertinent to the investigation being performed
Analysis and utilization of the gathered information to plan perform and implement testing procedures
Qualifications
BSc in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent - (essential)
AHCS registration - (essential)
Appropriate experience working in clinical neurophysiology - (essential)
Paediatric and adult experience - (essential)
Evoked potentials (Pattern/ Flash, Somatosensory to median and posterior tibial nerve stimulation, Brainstem) – (essential)
Current ILS certification.
Sleep Medicine (desirable)
