This dynamic team develops and maintains tools for automating the deployment, management, and monitoring of complex material handling systems, including conveyor networks, robotic workcells, and industrial control systems.

We are seeking a passionate System Development Engineer to innovate in building Human Machine Interfacing Platforms to join the AIT team within the Amazon Fulfillment Technologies Robotics organization.

We build the software and services that touch every Amazon customer globally and innovate solutions for logistics, supply chain optimization, and transportation. If you are a System Development engineer with a creative flare, problem-solving skills, exposure to various technologies such as Machine Learning and/or Controls Programming, we want to talk with you.

As a System Development Engineer, you will be a highly experienced technical contributor responsible for bringing your expertise in industrial automation and control systems to the design, development, and continuous improvement of a mission-critical equipment visualization platform. You will work closely with Principal Engineers, Product Teams, UX designers, Front End and Back End Software Development Engineers to deliver a scalable, high-performance, and user-centric platform.

Key job responsibilities
• Collaborate with the team to ensure the platform seamlessly integrates with a wide range of industrial equipment, sensors, and other control system components.
• Contribute to the overall system architecture and design, providing input on the integration of industrial automation components.
• Assist in defining the data flow, communication protocols, and interface specifications between the platform and the underlying industrial systems.
• Identify and address technical challenges related to the integration of industrial automation technologies into the visualization platform.
• Participate in the development of critical system components to incorporate industrial-specific features and functionalities into the platform, leveraging your expertise in industrial automation and control systems.
• Identify opportunities to optimize the platform's performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Contribute to the definition and implementation of comprehensive testing strategies, including the validation of industrial automation and control system integrations.
• Analyze test results and provide technical expertise to diagnose and resolve complex issues related to the integration of industrial components.
• Ensure the platform meets the required performance, reliability, and security standards for industrial applications.

- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience building services using AWS products
- Knowledge of a front-end language (Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc.)
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with Industrial control systems, both hardware and software

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
