Salary range (but not limited to):

149,600 - 182,800

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

15%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.


About the role

As a manager within the National Team – Personal Insurance Projects, your work will have a major impact on our corporate strategic initiatives in Personal Lines (PL) insurance. This is a key opportunity within the PL leadership team, with a focus on profitably maximizing the value of IFC’s largest portfolio.

 

You will be relied upon to develop our outperformance roadmap by establishing key objectives and maintaining a healthy cost benefits analysis list. You will oversee the execution of major strategic projects, particularly for our telematics product MyDrive, ensuring the quality of deliverables affecting digital components, corporate underwriting, and pricing. You will oversee analyses and research aimed at achieving business objectives. You will analyze trends and recommend creative adjustments to pricing, products, underwriting practices, and procedures. You will demonstrate your ability to change course by showing adaptability and flexibility when things do not go as planned, finding ways to get back on track. You will lead and oversee activities through planning and work allocation, foster teamwork within the team and beyond, and guide team training and development. You will coordinate with regional, divisional, and corporate teams on growth and profitability opportunities, while maintaining a longer-term view of the portfolio.

 

This position is a permanent, full-time hybrid opportunity, with an in-office presence 3 days per week.

 

What you'll do here:

 

  • Develop, maintain, and influence decisions related to the underwriting structure and funnel, pricing, and system designs to create outperformance opportunities through growth or profitability.
  • Develop methods to inspire and build a highly effective multi-disciplinary and engaged team composed of actuaries & corporate underwriters capable of meeting the current and future needs through effective leadership.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement leadership strategies, organizational structure, and processes/technology improvement initiatives.
  • Lead working groups involving multiple stakeholders with an ability to facilitate and influence direction.
  • Plan and oversee the execution of projects and strive for continuous improvement in Personal Lines’ deployment quality. 
  • Ensure the team is productive and continuously works to improve the processes and tools.  
  • Manage performance reviews, training and coaching for group members to meet the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Act as a key stakeholder for large-scale projects, establishing and translating conceptual needs into concrete and clear specifications and participating in the development and tracking of deliverables. 
  • Represent the Corporate PL function on various company task forces and act as the point of contact for other business units.

 

What you bring to the table:

 

  • University degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Job-specific designation: FCAS an asset.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience, including 2 years of coaching (major asset).
  • Strong skills and knowledge of actuarial techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of personal lines products and systems.
  • Building strategic working relationships.
  • Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking & analysis skills.
  • Creative solutioning.

  • Good strategic vision & decision-making while being a leader of change.

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
