Job Summary
Working as part of a team, this position is responsible for performing general labourer duties in a precast concrete manufacturing facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Must be able to work in a safe manner and comply with all safety policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and hazard free workspace.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management to complete work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to read and write in English and understand basic mathematics and measurements.
- Safely operate power tools and equipment related to job/task.
- Visually inspects all equipment, personal protection equipment for faulty equipment, worn out parts, and immediately reports his findings to Lead Hand or Supervisor.
- Placement of standard materials related to product, such as: insulation, erection hooks, etc.
- Mix, pour, rake, shovel, vibrate and finish concrete.
- Tie reinforcing, such as rebar to rebar, rebar to mesh, mesh to mesh, under specific direction.
- Nailing and fastening wooden forms under specific direction.
- Perform other general labourer duties as assigned.
Education And/ Or Experience
- Completion of a high school diploma is an asset.
- Previous labourer experience in the concrete and/or construction industry is an asset.
- Certified crane or forklift training is an asset.
- Ability to use and read a tape measure is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings is an asset.
- Experience operating specialized concrete fabrication equipment is an asset.
- Experience operating overhead crane and/or forklift is an asset.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job you are regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, lift, climb, push-pull, kneel, crouch, twist, bend, and stoop.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs frequently.
Work Environment
- May require working in hot (32C) and cold (-25C) temperatures.
- May require walking on terrain that may be uneven, muddy, and slippery.
- Exposure to dust, cement powder, water mist or vapor.
Hours Of Work
- 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday. Working hours are subject to change based on business needs.
- Must be available to work weekends as required by the business needs.
- Must have a willingness to work overtime as required.
