We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health team at Mercer, a Marsh business. This role will be based in Boston and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As the Health & Benefits Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of employee benefits for our clients. In this dynamic position, you will perform in-depth analyses for larger, complex clients, collaborating with Mercer subject matter experts to deliver exceptional results. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of quality and accuracy in all deliverables. We will count on you to:
- Provide financial, contract, and administrative analysis while managing portions of client projects and addressing ad hoc operational requests
- Support financial review and funding analysis, including underwriting, data analytics, and collaboration with actuaries
- Contribute to client strategy by interpreting benchmark data, presenting insights, and ensuring plan and program changes align with client objectives
- Manage project quality, timelines, and deliverables; delegate to and review work from junior team members
- Coordinate internal specialty resources to ensure deliverables meet client goals, deadlines, and professional standards
- Lead preparation, peer review, and delivery of clear, concise, client-facing communications and reports
- Work directly with clients to manage the request for proposal (RFP) process with health insurance carriers and internal analysts
- Establish and manage carrier and vendor relationships to support benefits administration, compliance, and plan implementation
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of experience in health & benefits, preferably in a consulting environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize by level of urgency
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
