The CRO division develops and oversees the global framework for risk identification, control, reporting, and management within the risk tolerance for the various business activities for Julius Baer, aiming at sustainable growth of the franchise.

Operational Risk Control team is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the Operational Risk Framework of the Bank and for monitoring, assessing and controlling the level of operational risk exposure that results from the Bank’s business activities.

YOUR CHALLENGE

  • Responsible for the internal control framework of the Bank, Global Minimum Controls, Key Risk Indicators and Risk Reports
  • Monitor, assess and control the level of operational risk exposure that results from the Bank’s business activities
  • Perform operational risk identification and contribute to the annual Operational Risk Self-Assessment
  • Perform internal investigations of operational incidents, client complaints or special ad-hoc reviews, presenting results and risk mitigating measures to Management
  • Active interaction with Head Office ("HO") and Singapore to ensure standardized operational risk management and participating in regional/ global initiatives and projects
  • Analyse critical operational incidents, investigate root causes and provide assessment of corrective or mitigation measures
  • Monitor and report the execution of key controls in the Bank
  • Ensure timely performance of controls assigned to Operational Risk (including but not limited to monetary benefits, fraud, cross border) and prepare results analysis and escalation reports
  • Perform quality review of key controls performed and ensure their compliance with internal control framework (“ICF”)
  • Perform independent investigation of fraud cases, client complaints or ad-hoc reviews, including risk assessment, evaluation of corrective and risk mitigating measures and presentation to Management as well as HO
  • Liaise with other functions locally, regionally and with HO to align the Risk Framework of the Bank and ensure local implementation of Global Minimum Controls
  • Coordinate input and prepare regular reports such as monthly HO report, Risk Committee presentation, Quarterly Risk Report, Key Risk Indicators
  • Maintenance and integration of policies, procedures and internal controls related to Operational Risk area
  • Keep abreast of the latest operational risk management techniques and industry best practices

  • Dynamic, flexible and capable of effective teamwork

Professional and Technical

  • Excellent knowledge of operational risk management in private banking and regulatory requirements
  • Sound understanding of the bank and the business to recognize areas of operational risk and apply controls and measures
  • Knowledge and experience in fraud risk and/or operational resilience is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Risk Management or Audit (Internal or External) in Private Bank preferably
  • Languages Skills: Fluent in both English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin; Cantonese is a plus)
