Description
Key Competencies, Skills & Requirements
- A degree or diploma in architecture, architectural technology, or related field (minimum MA in Architecture or equivalent preferred).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a BIM Coordinator within the UK commercial sector, preferably from a medium to large architectural practice.
- Working knowledge of current BIM processes, requirements, and workflows.
- Experience in using ArchiCAD within an architectural practice.
- Strong understanding of the UK BIM Framework (including ISO 19650) and associated standards.
- Understanding of Information Management Mandate and UK BIM Framework
- Experience working with ArchiCAD is essential and other relevant experience with software such as Solibri, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Revit interoperability is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of clash detection and issue management.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and project specification management is desirable but not essential.
- Good understanding and skills in managing preparation for file exchange, file uploads, and downloads within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organised and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and support multiple projects.
- Enthusiastic, approachable, and collaborative team player.
- Passionate about learning and staying updated with the latest BIM developments.
- Ability to understand and map design workflows across RIBA stages
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes rather than symptoms
- Interest in automation / scripting (Grasshopper, Python, etc.)
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Act as the first point of contact within the practice for all ArchiCAD/CAD/BIM queries.Support project teams in developing and implementing modelling strategies to meet project-specific BIM requirements.
- Assist with the management and implementation of ArchiCAD software, protocols, templates, and libraries across the practice.
- Aid in ensuring project compliance with CAD/BIM requirements, Industry Requirements, and collaborative workflows with consultants, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day ArchiCAD troubleshooting and problem-solving support.
- Support the BIM Manager in the development and maintenance of practice-wide CAD/BIM manuals and project-specific BIM execution plans.
- Identify inefficiencies in project workflows and propose improvements
- Support structured information flow across project stages
- Reduce duplication and rework through better model and data management
- Support Project Leads and Project Design Teams in establishing project goals, processes, workflows, and implementation to achieve contractual obligations.
- Maintain upkeep of all Project BIM Documentation such as BEP, TIDP, BRM, etc.
- Implement FPA Digital Standards across assigned projects.
- Liaise with Client BIM Advisor and external Design Team BIM Coordinators for the coordination and management of Building Information Models (BIM) and documents throughout the project stages.
- Perform Quality Assurance Checks on BIM models.
- Create and manage a consistent library of typical ArchiCAD objects.
- Implement modelling best practices to support 3D, 4D, and 5D delivery.
- Provide training/upskilling to project teams to support project BIM delivery.
- Provide technical BIM support to projects.
- Conduct ArchiCAD induction and training for new staff and support ongoing training needs for existing staff.
- Stay updated on relevant BIM regulations and industry guidance and disseminate relevant information to project teams.
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation related to BIM coordination, compliance, and project requirements.
- Work closely with job runners and project teams to define BIM deliverables and facilitate collaboration between disciplines.
- Assist with the coordination of federated models and clash detection using software such as Solibri.
- Participate in CAD/BIM coordination meetings and contribute to the development of standardised workflows across the practice.
- Liaise with the IT team regarding software/licensing updates and server management related to BIM processes.
- Ensure proper maintenance of ArchiCAD models, including regular quality checks and compliance with agreed modelling techniques.
- Assist in maintaining and updating ArchiCAD templates and libraries to improve workflow efficiency.
- Support the BIM Manager in monitoring project workflows and identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Provide guidance on visual outputs and presentation preferences, including 3D renderings and model-based drawings.
