Position Overview
At Diversified Construction Safety (DCS), the Construction Safety Consultant plays a vital role in supporting construction personnel and helping our clients maintain safe, compliant, and productive job sites. While construction teams focus on delivering quality projects, our Safety Consultants provide expert guidance, inspections, training, and risk management services to help ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with applicable regulations.
This is an independent contractor (1099) position offering the opportunity to work with a variety of General Contractors and subcontractors throughout the construction industry. The role combines field safety consulting, client relationship management, accident investigation, OSHA compliance support, and safety training delivery.
A key component of this position is serving as an OSHA Outreach Trainer capable of facilitating OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 30-Hour Construction courses, as well as developing and delivering other OSHA-related training programs tailored to client needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety Consulting & Site Evaluations
- Conduct project site visits and safety audits to evaluate working conditions and identify potential hazards.
- Observe construction activities at various stages and provide recommendations to reduce risk exposure.
- Recognize and reinforce positive safety practices while identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with project leadership to implement corrective actions and improve overall site safety performance.
- Verify compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
Incident Investigation & OSHA Support
- Conduct comprehensive accident and incident investigations.
- Prepare detailed investigative reports and corrective action recommendations.
- Assist clients during OSHA inspections and investigations.
- Provide documentation and guidance to help clients respond effectively to regulatory inquiries.
Training & Education
- Serve as an authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer for the Construction Industry.
- Facilitate OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 30-Hour Construction courses.
- Develop and deliver client-specific safety training programs, toolbox talks, and compliance workshops.
- Educate supervisors, managers, and field personnel on safety standards, hazard recognition, and best practices.
- Stay current with OSHA regulations and industry safety developments to ensure training content remains relevant and compliant.
Client Development & Relationship Management
- Identify and pursue new client opportunities through networking, referrals, and industry relationships.
- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships.
- Coordinate safety consulting services to ensure client expectations are met and projects are completed successfully.
- Represent Diversified Construction Safety professionally within the construction community.
Program Development & Compliance
- Assist clients with developing and implementing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and analyze safety performance data.
- Review workplace activities and recommend operational improvements to enhance safety outcomes.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and compliance records as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Current OSHA Outreach Trainer authorization for the Construction Industry.
- Demonstrated ability to teach OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 30-Hour Construction courses.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience conducting jobsite safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Experience investigating workplace incidents and preparing detailed reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Professional relationship-building and business development skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard reporting software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client job sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five to ten years of construction safety consulting, management, or related experience.
- Experience working with General Contractors and subcontractors on commercial and industrial projects.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Additional safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, ASP, SMS, STS, or equivalent.
- Experience developing customized safety programs and delivering specialized OSHA-related training.

This individual must be self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple client projects simultaneously. They should be comfortable working in a dynamic environment that requires frequent interaction with construction personnel, project management teams, and company leadership.
The ideal candidate must also be willing and able to travel throughout Florida as needed to support client projects and training requirements. Travel may include job sites and client locations throughout the state, including the Tampa Bay area, Southwest Florida (Naples and Fort Myers), South Florida (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach), Central Florida, and surrounding regions. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel overnight when necessary are required.
