Job Description
Location: Community-Based (Bedford, NH area)
Status: Full-Time (30 hours/week) with benefits
Compensation: $25.00 per hour via The Moore Center
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, "tech-oriented" Senior DSP to join a specialized team supporting a bright, non-speaking 22-year-old man with autism+. This role operates within a 2:1 staff-to-client model, emphasizing a collaborative and autonomy-affirming environment. We lead with presumed competence and kindness as core job requirements. The applicant will report directly to the family manager.
The ideal candidate is patient, optimistic, and comfortable working with the client on generalizing skills across home and community-based environments. You should be able to model social appropriateness while intuitively recognizing when "less talk" is more effective for the client's processing.
Technical & Communication Skills:
• Assistive Technology (AT): Applicants must be proficient with modern digital tools, like smartphones and tablets.
• AAC Support: You will be responsible for supporting functional communication through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
• Willingness to Learn: While prior knowledge of our specific applications is not required, you must be tech-oriented and eager to receive thorough on-the-job training for specialized AT apps and the client’s specific AAC platform.
• Creative Integration: Where applicable, you will creatively infuse technology into daily routines to increase the client's independence.
• Education: Recent graduates in Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Special Education, Neuroscience, Health and Human Services, or related fields are highly encouraged to apply.
• Logistics: Reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance required for client transport (mileage reimbursed).
• Availability: Must be available for daytime shifts; typical hours are M-F, 11:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Please note: Applicants who are only available after 3:00 PM will not be considered.
