Job Description

Located at our Patient Service Center Locations (Centerville, Springboro, Middletown, Lebanon, Liberty Township, & West Chester) Full-Time Day Shift Exempt/Salaried (On-Call Availability 6:00 AM-9:00 PM) Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the Phlebotomy Services Management with rounding, training, corrective action, and other duties as requested.  Responsibilities: Performs venipunctures and capillary punctures as outlined in the departmental procedure manual. Follows proper procedures for patient identification and labeling of laboratory specimens. Oversees and assists in or prepare specimens for transport to the required laboratory facility. Completes requisitions per department standards. Able to use and train others on all information systems including but not limited to Atlas, SunQuest, Experian and Epic. Log requisitions into computer systems when applicable. Operates departmental equipment, including but not limited to, centrifuges and printers. Performs regular inventory checks and stocks work areas with supplies. Provide regional site coverage as needed, but at a minimum of once a month, to assist with staff shortage or high volume. Oversees and assists in training of new employees. Performs corrective action processes. Processes time cards in the Timekeeping System when needed. Staffs main company office as a resource as needed.  Perform coverage of manager work assignments in the event of manager absence. Performs monthly PSC requisition audits as needed. Prepares regional team schedule as needed following scheduling guidelines for the department. Oversees and assists with specimen draw problem solving, including rapid response to TIQ requests from Processing. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a courteous and efficient manner, demonstrating positive customer service principles with clients at all times. Follows regulatory requirements, corporate integrity standards and all departmental and company policies and procedures, including infection control and biohazard waste disposal. Follows all compliance procedures and policies, assisting the Compliance Officer with audits on a monthly basis. Performs other duties and job assignments as requested. Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have 3 (three) years phlebotomy experience in the PSC department. Must demonstrate organizational skills and composure needed to train co-workers on PSC procedure. No corrective action, including Warnings and Final Warnings in the past 2 years. Designated Patient Service Center phlebotomists must maintain auto liability insurance in accordance with state law as well as meet and maintain CompuNet’s corporate insurance carrier’s auto liability standards. Physical & Safety Demands: Ability to organize and complete work in an efficient and timely manner. Good communication skills. Weekend supervisor/manager rotation as scheduled per department policy. Possible exposure to chemical, biological and/or radioactive hazards. Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals. Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.  Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.  Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner. Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
