Job Description
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Relief at Behavioral Health Unit Crisis Center (BHUC) a 24/7 facility providing timely access to mental health services for children, adolescents and adults presenting in a mental health crisis. The program is designed for those who need urgent behavioral health or substance use treatment. Assesses patients, interprets diagnostic test/results, and develops and implements treatments to address the patient's needs. Working in collaboration with physician(s) and working in a relief (PRN employed) capacity as needed (or predetermined schedule) often times with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Function
- Performs physical assessments of the patient, reviews their medical history, and interprets diagnostic tests/results in order to provide effective treatment for the patient.
- Conducts preventive health screenings based on the patient's age, history, and unique needs to provide proactive health care.
- Educates patients and their family about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up.
- Maintains record of all patient care in order to ensure accurate patient history.
- Performs medical procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and clinical roles.
- Identifies ways to improve patient care by assessing, problem-solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: Master's degree Nursing or master's degree, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or PA-C with Board Certification.
Experience
- Preferred: 1-3 years as advanced practice provider.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Valid NC RN and NP license or PA-C license.
