Job Overview/Scope:
Reporting directly to Compliance Manager, supervisor also works with other Quality Management and Business Unit team leaders to provide support around the core functions of R&D activities like innovation, product development etc., related studies, and Spec Management. Works closely with corporate R&D. This role is responsible for utilizing updated procedures like QSP, spec change to ensure standards /specification on raw materials and finished product, meet established criteria. Responsibilities include performing tasks related to R&D or innovation trial at plant while being a liaison between external team and internal team. Will also be responsible for other quality activities in the absence of primary shift QA supervisor.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Acts as primary contact for R&D at plant. Coordinates between R&D, Logistics, Quality and Business Unit leaders to set up trials, proper documentation, pre-trial meetings and receipt of trial materials.
- Performs any formula input needed for the trial – also helps coordinate with Quality any needed weight control or calibration setups. Provides R&D Information Report / summaries to inform department teams of upcoming trials.
- Works with Business Unit, Quality management and R&D to run trials, coordinating resources needed, sample testing and holding product.
- Closes out trials including coordinating with R&D on post-trial meeting, sample shipments and final product disposition. Works with R&D and internal QA team for any special request.
- Manages R&D trial materials inventory – locations while held and final disposition per R&D.
- Coordinates with Distribution to manage R&D materials inventory on supplies sent in for trials.
- Performs shelf-life studies as requested by RnD, Quality, BU, or Distribution. Provide report on study results to involved parties.
- Performs Specifications Management for plant in general. Receives all spec notices from corporate or from Quality Manager; sorts and sends to affected Quality and Department distribution lists.
- Participate in new product and development/ innovation projects and perform new formulation review for BOM and material set up.
- Responsible for commercialization call (internal and external), quarterly feedback call with leadership (if needed) and weekly/daily connect with cross functional team.
- Performs yearly spec system audit; perform history updates on all formulas minimum once per year or as needed due to reformulation.
- Participate in all internal and external quality audits and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions.
- Support with KHMS implementation and monthly report on progress.
- Performs all Quality Data Steward activities – approving workflows, checking shelf life and inspection setup in SAP for all commercialized or changing products, materials and packaging supplies.
- Sets up, inputs, and maintains all product profiles in Quality Suite and vision system. Upkeeps spec limits, control limits, tests, process part assignments and communicates changes to affected department personnel.
- Participate in design, setup, and training of equipment on the plant floor associated with trial and new projects. Must also be able to establish proper control procedures, audit proper use of the equipment, establish preventive maintenance program for testing equipment and coordinate correction of laboratory / production testing issues.
- Champion review of change control from Quality’s side.

Requirements:
- High School Degree required, bachelor’s degree in food science or equivalent degree, preferred.
- Project management experience needed.
- People management experience preferred.
- Experience in Food Safety and Quality preferred
- Mostly a first shift role with flexibility required for second shift, if necessary, weekends, and all required overtime. Prompt and regular attendance. Walk, sit, stand, climb, work near moving equipment, occasionally lift up to 40 lbs, operate a computer.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
- Must be able to work independently without supervision and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously

New Hire Base Salary Range:
$77,800.00 - $97,300.00Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
