Shuttle Driver
Job Description
Under direct supervision of Shuttle Supervisors, the Principal Automotive Equipment Operator or Shuttle Driver will operate a variety of passenger shuttle buses throughout the City and County of San Francisco. The primary purpose of the position is to safely transport staff, faculty, and students who are required to travel between campus sites to fulfill their work and school related obligations. The drivers also support patient transportation to various UCSF clinical facilities on regular shuttles or on-demand Jitney service.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

100 | Yes | Operate shuttle buses and vans between various UCSF campus sites within San Francisco and the Bay Area; operate wheel-chair lifts and assist disabled patrons as needed; conduct daily passenger boarding counts; assist customers and provides information as requested concerning shuttle service schedules, policies and procedures, and other related information.
Keep vehicles clean, fueled, checking and maintaining fluid levels and performing daily vehicle safety checks as directed. Complete necessary forms and logs and advise Transit Supervisors and vehicle maintenance personnel of any vehicle-related problems or issues in a timely manner.
Perform ambassador duties, helping out users of various transportation services as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
- One year experience in the operation of commercial automotive equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid California Department of Motor Vehicles Driver's License with no license restrictions other than for corrective lenses
- Current Class B Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement, Air Brakes Endorsement, and medical certification
- Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good oral and written communication skills
Note: Physical/health screening and background check required
Required Licenses and/or Certifications:
- Commercial Class B with Passenger Endorsement, Air Brakes Endorsement, and medical certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of commercial professional passenger-transport licensing
- Formal training and experience in a certified defensive training program, such as Smith System
- Three years of driving experience
- Demonstrated experience driving a commercial passenger vehicle in a large, urban setting
