Responsibilities:
- Processes daily worksheets to reflect available staff on all nursing units and plans staffing needs for future shifts. In collaboration with the Administrative Representatives at each facility utilizes knowledge of different modes of patient care delivery on nursing units to appropriately schedule and assign staff to nursing units. Communicates with other hospital campus to ensure efficient usage of resources.
- Manages requests for patient transfers and direct admissions. Accurately collects the data required for the intake of patients from a variety of sources in compliance with governing regulations and policies. Coordinates provider to provider calls and accurately documents all acceptance calls. Uses critical thinking and established process flow to assess and facilitate patient movement across multiple facilities.
- Proactively collaborates with the Transfer Center, registration, nursing staff, and physicians with regard to proper bed placement. Appropriately assigns beds according to diagnosis, physician requests, and hospital policies while avoiding federal non-compliance and penalties to the hospital and physician.
- Effectively operates electronic systems and technology to optimize patient flow logistics, capacity management, and staffing and scheduling. Maintains confidentiality of information.
- May receive and record absent calls and notifies appropriate unit. Documents staff time changes on schedules via computer system.
- Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to adapt as organizational needs change throughout the shift.
- Collaborates with multi-disciplinary health care team to facilitate and ensure patient satisfaction.
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- 1 year related experience Required
- 3 years related experience Preferred
