Position Overview 

The BIM Manager serves in a hybrid capacity as both a senior technical expert and a project lead responsible for direct client engagement, account delivery, strategic BIM-FM consulting, and direct leadership of a team of approximately 6 to 7 individuals.  

This role independently manages complex BIM-to-IWMS integration projects, leads technical implementations, and guides project teams of reporting or non-reporting resources to successful completion. The specialist establishes BIM-FM standards, develops automation workflows, troubleshoots advanced integration issues, and provides strategic consulting on asset lifecycle management and BIM execution planning.  

This position also mentors specialists, drives innovation through automation and process optimization, and actively contributes to business development and operational planning. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Advanced BIM-IWMS Integration & Consulting 

  • Lead end-to-end BIM-to-IWMS integration projects involving asset lifecycle management, space data publishing, and FM system implementation across TRIRIGA and Archibus platforms. 
  • Develop and implement BIM-FM publishing standards, data schemas, and integration protocols tailored to client requirements and industry best practices  
  • Define and document BIM execution plans (BEP) and BIM-FM strategies aligned with ISO 19650, COBie, and other international standards. 
  • Conduct comprehensive BIM model verification and readiness assessments to evaluate model quality, data completeness, and integration preparedness. 
  • Create and manage model project parameters and mapping schemas for TRIRIGA and Archibus integration, ensuring seamless data flow from design to operations. 
  • Map assets with complete O&M data, maintenance schedules, warranty information, and equipment specifications for facilities management operations. 

2. Automation & Technical Innovation 

  • Design, develop, and implement automation workflows using pyRevit, Dynamo, C# plugins, and other scripting tools to enhance integration efficiency and data quality 
  • Stay current with latest BIM developments including ISO 19650 updates, AI-assisted workflows (e.g., Claude integrations), and emerging FM technologies. 
  • Lead process definition for new BIM-IWMS system implementations and client-specific business requirements 
  • Identify and implement process improvements using advanced technical solutions to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and integration reliability 

3. Problem Solving & Advanced Troubleshooting 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Level 2 and Level 3 BIM-IWMS integration issues including complex Revit-to-IWMS data sync problems, parameter mapping failures, and Smart Client configuration challenges 
  • Process and interpret complex integration requirements from client BIM models, IWMS systems, and facility management business processes 
  • Analyze possible solutions for non-routine technical challenges and take appropriate action using standard operational practices or create new standards when necessary 
  • Exercise independent judgment and make strategic decisions on integration approaches, data structures, and technical implementations within project guidelines. 

4. Project Leadership & Client Engagement 

  • Lead BIM-IWMS integration projects from inception to completion, managing timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Interface directly with clients on a weekly basis, presenting technical solutions, progress updates, and strategic recommendations. 
  • Support account and project management activities including status reporting, performance tracking, and delivery monitoring 
  • Prepare and deliver business proposals and presentations to clients, demonstrating value proposition and technical capabilities. 
  • Conduct client kick-offs, requirement gathering sessions, and integration planning workshops. 
  • Support client escalations and nurture long-term client relationships through proactive communication and solution delivery. 

5. Training & Knowledge Transfer 

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for internal staff on Revit modeling, IWMS platforms (TRIRIGA/Archibus), and BIM-FM integration workflows. 
  • Train clients on Revit best practices, IWMS utilization, asset data management, and BIM-FM operational workflows. 
  • Create training materials, user guides, and standard operating procedures for BIM-IWMS integration processes. 
  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on emerging BIM technologies, automation techniques, and industry standards. 

6. Standards Development & Process Documentation 

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive BIM-FM standards documentation including project procedures, client-specific standards, and operational playbooks  
  • Define processes and workflows for the complete Revit-to-IWMS integration journey, from model creation through data publishing and ongoing synchronization. 
  • Document asset maintenance registry monitoring processes for systematic asset data population and validation. 
  • Develop data harmonization protocols and quality assurance procedures for BIM-IWMS integration deliverables  

7. Team Management 

  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to lower levels on advanced BIM-IWMS integration skills and cross-functional capabilities 
  • Influence delivery quality and technical standards within the BIM-FM team through knowledge sharing and skill development support 
  • Support onboarding of new team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. 
  • Direct management of team members (performance, etc.) 

8. Strategic Planning & Business Contribution 

  • Contribute to operational planning and strategic initiatives at team or business sub-segment level 
  • Coordinate activities at the business sub-segment or account level when required 
  • Participate in business development activities including proposal development, technical scoping, and solution design. 
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage in BIM-FM integration services. 

9. Required Software Skills & Technical Competencies 

Core Skills 

  • Autodesk Revit (Advanced/Expert): Complex family development, Revit API and plugins, custom shared parameter workflows, advanced workset strategies, model federation, COBie data management, IFC coordination 
  • IWMS Platforms (Advanced): TRIRIGA and/or Archibus administration, database architecture, integration configuration, custom workflow development, advanced reporting and business intelligence, API integration 

 

Any of the following skills is highly desired but not mandatory 

  • pyRevit (Intermediate): Custom script development, extension creation, Python programming for BIM automation 
  • Dynamo for Revit (Intermediate): Complex visual programming, custom nodes, Python scripting within Dynamo, performance optimization 
  • C# Development (Intermediate): Revit API plugins, IWMS extensions, custom integration tools, MS Visio plugins 
  • Python (Intermediate): Data processing, API interactions, automation scripts, AI/ML integration (Claude API, etc.) 
  • API Integration: RESTful APIs, SOAP services, authentication protocols, data synchronization 
  • Data Exchange Formats: JSON, XML, CSV, IFC (Industry Foundation Classes), COBie spreadsheets, gbXML 
  • Database Management: Understanding of relational databases, data modeling, normalization 

Supporting Applications 

Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced): Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, advanced analytics), Word (technical documentation), PowerPoint (executive presentations), Visio (process diagrams and C# plugin development) 

Business Intelligence: Power BI (dashboard creation, data visualization, DAX  

BIM Coordination & Quality 

Navisworks Manage: Model coordination, clash detection, 4D simulation, model review workflows 

Solibri Model Checker: Advanced rule-based checking, custom rulesets, quality assurance automation 

BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud: Project setup, model coordination workflows, issue tracking, data connector configuration 

Standards & Protocols (Expert Level) 

  • ISO 19650: Information management framework, BIM execution planning, data drops, information requirements 
  • COBie: Data structuring for asset management, COBie spreadsheet development, validation 
  • IFC Standards: Open BIM workflows, IFC export/import optimization, MVD (Model View Definition) 
  • Space Measurement Standards: BOMA, FICM,  
  • AI & Emerging Technologies 
  • AI Integration: Claude API, ChatGPT API for workflow automation, natural language processing for data extraction 
  • Machine Learning Basics: Understanding of AI applications in BIM and FM 
  • AutoCAD: Basic  

 

10. Qualifications 

  • Direct and relevant experience in BIM-IWMS integration, BIM management, or facilities technology consulting 
  • Experience with direct leadership of others (performance management, etc. ) is required. 
  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or relevant certification in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, BIM, Facilities Management, Computer Science, or related field, or 5+ years' experience in BIM-FM integration or related technical leadership roles 
  • Advanced working knowledge of Revit, IWMS platforms (TRIRIGA and/or Archibus), and BIM-FM integration methodologies in a Corporate Real Estate environment 
  • Demonstrated expertise in automation tools (pyRevit, Dynamo, scripting languages) and custom workflow development. 
  • Strong understanding of ISO 19650, COBie standards, and asset lifecycle management. 
  • Proven ability to lead projects and project teams, engage clients at senior levels, and deliver strategic consulting services. 
  • Meeting schedules may require flexibility to accommodate team members across multiple time zones
