Registered Nurse-PCU RN
Full-Time, Third Shift
BHCOR-Cor PCU Dept. I Corbin, KY
PCU is a 20-bed unit capable of monitoring patients via central telemetry 24 hours a day. PCU serves as a place for the monitoring and care of patients age 16 to geriatric with moderate or potentially severe physiologic instability, requiring technical support but not necessarily artificial life support.
Performs care requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
Description:
Completes and documents patient assessments, care plans, and changes in condition.
Updates care plans each shift with measurable goals and evaluates patient response to interventions.
Develops patient/family education and discharge plans.
Provides care according to policies, procedures, and physician orders.
Performs procedures, responds to emergencies, and promotes patient safety.
Communicates effectively using SBAR/ARCC and ensures accurate documentation.
Assists staff, monitors compliance, and facilitates patient flow.
Uses critical thinking to identify and address patient care needs promptly.
Demonstrates leadership, teamwork, delegation, and workload prioritization.
Acts as a role model, supports staff orientation, and encourages professional growth.
Maintains licensure, completes required training, and complies with all regulations and reporting requirements.
Requirements:
Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
Basic Life Support Required. New employees requiring CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association should receive (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.
