$46,947.00 - $65,726.00Coordinate handling and packaging of all types of wastes generated by Albany Medical Center. Work closely with the Department of Environmental Services and Waste Handler so that the Department of Environmental Services will never run out of trash carts or recycling bins, etc. Operate motorized equipment, power tools and manual tools in a safe and efficient manner. Load and unload trailers.I.QUALIFICATIONS
A.Work Experience and Education
High school or trade school graduate or 2 years experience with waste recycling or Hazardous Material Response Team or Co-Training in any or all preceding areas helpful, but not required.
I.MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works under direct supervision of the Safety Coordinator of Environmental Health and Safety.
- Responsible for quality and quantity of wastes being shipped from Albany Medical Center.
- Check waste being shipped for radioactivity and separating radioactive wastes for storage and later shipment.
- Check all red bag waste for proper closure and bag integrity. Check all needle boxes for proper closure and labeling.
- Package red bag waste to be incinerated in proper containers.
- Load and unload tractor-trailers using proper equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
- Recognize any problems, recording them in a log and notifying the proper department.
- Keep inventory of equipment, ordering fresh before stock is depleted.
- Check motorized equipment for all fluid levels and top off when necessary.
- Deal with spills in the prescribed manner using proper equipment. Place recyclables in proper collection containers for shipment, grading them when necessary.
- Collect recyclables when called upon.
- Keep accurate record of events during the shift.
- Cover shift workload for vacations, sick and emergency situations.
- Operate fork truck and hospital vehicles.
- Operate paper shredder.
