Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking an Advisory Engineer.

 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $156000 - $228000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

In this role you will provide national engineering leadership to create complete engineering design packages with the following responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering leadership across the Project Engineering group by mentoring the broader engineering team
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) by leading organization in current and emerging power distribution technology
  • Provide guidance/oversight to the standards committee for the development of design standards and specifications
  • Establish engineering program goals to grow engineering business throughout country
  • Perform complex engineering work or act as lead engineer on complex projects to ensure successful delivery and mentorship
  • Perform QAQC in collaboration with Regional Project Engineers (RPE) to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Assist RPE in developing engineering design concepts and estimates at the proposal stage
  • Oversee development of electrical drawing packages including physical layouts, ground grid design, protection and control, and wiring
  • Assist RPE in developing testing/commissioning plans for projects and be SME resource during testing/commissioning phase.
  • Assist RPE in leading engineering effort on large turnkey projects with multiple engineering groups to ensure high quality and on-schedule deliverables
  • Provide technical oversight of civil engineering designs
  • Assist RPE in QA/QC review of internal and external designs for code compliance, accuracy, and constructability
  • Assist in development and enforcement of design and process standards
  • Providing technical guidance, value added engineering and constructability guidance during both the design and implementation phases
  • Mentoring and/or leading other engineers
  • Support National Engineering Managers with operational support including project financial updates and risk reviews

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of power system transmission, distribution, or generation design
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety program and policy; This includes role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer qualification
  • Field experience in testing/commissioning medium voltage equipment Working knowledge of NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETA
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Engineering project management experience
  • Familiarity with power system engineering calculations
  • Knowledge of codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, ANSI
  • Diverse application experience with power transmission, distribution, or generation projects
  • Experience with commissioning support for power distribution projects
