JOB FUNCTION
The Paraprofessional will assist Physical Education (PE) teachers in reinforcing materials and fitness activities to facilitate student learning and physical development. This position coordinates with School Administrators, PE Teachers, and other school support staff to ensure a safe and productive environment for large-group physical activity.
TERM
Shall work all days of student attendance that require paraprofessional services as determined by the Board of Education and occasional days of non-student attendance as job duties demand, including but not limited to Teacher Institute Days and School Improvement Days.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides support to the lead PE teacher in classroom instruction, fitness rotations, and sports management.
- Works with individual students or small groups who require additional or modified physical instruction or adaptive PE support.
- Assists with the setup and teardown of athletic equipment and organizes materials for daily lessons.
- Monitors students in the gym, locker rooms, and outdoor athletic fields to ensure safety and adherence to school behavior standards.
- Completes clerical work related to student fitness tracking or gym operations.
- Escorts students to and from the gym; assists with student drop-off, pickup, and hallway monitoring.
- Assists with student drop-off and pickup.
- Monitors halls, study periods, and lunch with other faculty and staff.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as necessary.
- Attends work as scheduled and arrives in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of classroom procedures and management.
- Ability to relate to children and reinforce lessons taught in class.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate with the lead teacher.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma; holding or obtaining Paraprofessional Educator Licence (PARA) within the first year of employment; and completion of paraprofessional training through the District within the first year of employment are required. Associates degree and three years of previous experience in a related role is highly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to navigate all areas of the school quickly including indoor and outdoor areas. Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time. Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties. Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist and teach children throughout the day. Prolonged periods sitting and working on the computer to complete necessary paperwork.
