.... as Assistant Director of Engineering (m/f/d) for Munich Marriott Hotel City West!
Your role...
As Assistant Director of Engineering, you are the first point of contact for the hotel team whenever technical challenges arise. You enjoy working in a state-of-the-art hotel equipped with the latest technology and take pride in ensuring that all building systems operate smoothly and efficiently. You organize the daily workflow of the Engineering team, monitor progress, and provide guidance and hands-on support whenever needed. You also serve as the primary contact for external contractors and have a thorough understanding of building safety and fire protection regulations. Working closely with the Director of Engineering, you support a wide range of projects and day-to-day operations. Throughout the hotel, you are known for your practical mindset, collaborative approach, and ability to find effective solutions to technical challenges.
What your responsibilities are...
- You share responsibility for the hotel’s entire technical infrastructure – from plant engineering and building structure to all FF&E.
- You plan, coordinate, and monitor maintenance, inspection, and repair activities, ensuring with a forward-looking approach that all technical systems operate reliably at all times.
- Together with the Director of Engineering, you develop technical strategies, plan investments, and support projects as well as the continuous improvement of our technical standards.
- You keep an eye on energy and resource consumption, analyse optimisation potential, and contribute ideas to sustainably reduce operating costs and usage.
- You share responsibility for building safety and ensure that guests, employees, and external partners can always move within a safe environment.
- Preventive and organisational fire protection also falls within your area of responsibility – from regular inspections to compliance with all legal requirements.
- You coordinate and supervise external service providers and contractors, ensuring high-quality execution of all work.
- You take on technical leadership of the entire engineering team, organise daily workflows, and support your team with your operational expertise.
- You fully represent the Director of Engineering in their absence.
- You are responsible for shift planning as well as the creation of duty and on-call schedules, ensuring smooth staffing coverage.
- You support new team members during onboarding and create a motivating working environment where collaboration and development are prioritised.
- You work closely with all hotel departments as well as the leadership team and are a valued contact for technical matters across the entire property.
That's what we want from you....
- You have completed vocational training in a recognised technical or skilled trade profession (e.g. electrician for energy and building technology, HVAC systems technician, mechatronics technician, or similar).
- Further training as a master craftsman or state-certified technician is an advantage.
- Alternatively, you hold a degree in supply engineering, building services engineering, electrical engineering, energy engineering, facility management, or a comparable field.
- You are highly organised and keep an overview at all times.
- You are tech-savvy, enjoy working with computers, and are interested in new technologies.
- You are a communicative networker who collaborates effectively with external contractors, suppliers, and colleagues across all trades.
- You impress with your technical expertise and make well-founded organisational decisions.
- With your positive presence, hands-on mentality, and can-do attitude, you like to get involved yourself and motivate your team.
- Your engaging personality, can-do attitude, and hands-on approach are a natural part of who you are.
- Your guest orientation and drive for performance inspire your team to achieve top results.
- You speak German and English at least on a conversational level
- You have a work permit for the EU/Germany
What might also be important to you…
- You work in one of Munich’s most modern hotels with high-quality building technology and advanced technical systems.
- You are part of a well-established engineering team and work closely with the Director of Engineering – challenges are solved together.
- In addition to daily operations, you have the opportunity to actively shape processes, projects, and technical standards.
- We value preventive maintenance rather than constant “firefighting” – so you can work in a structured and predictable way.
