Location: Aibonito, Puerto Rico. This role requires associates to work from the posted locations full-time, enabling consistent face-to-face collaboration, teamwork, and direct engagement. This policy promotes an environment built on in-person interaction, communication, and immediate support.

Schedule: This role requires full availability to work rotating shifts between operational hours from Monday to Sunday 6:00 am - 11:00 pm including weekends and holidays.

The Medical Technologist will be responsible for the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processing and testing of all laboratory specimens in areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology and Bacteriology equipment. Reporting of results in all areas of the MSO Clinic.

How you will make an impact:

  • Maintains accurate laboratory records follows laboratory policies and procedures including Quality Control and Quality Assessment practices in the Laboratory.
  • Works effectively with patients and families, and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.
  • Perform basic patient care within scope of practice and to departmental standards.
  • Responsibility to adhere to MSO Clinics compliance plan, to the rules and regulations of all Local and Federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.
  • Participates and performs the evaluation and documentation of new laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Analyzes data collection and special projects, as required.
  • Submits the documentation of required laboratory, departmental, and staff statistics/reports in a timely manner.
  • Performs assigned pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, which may include general and analytical equipment maintenance, function  checks and documentation.
  • Specimen collection as needed and biological specimen processing.
  • Cleaning and disinfection of selected or assigned laboratory equipment and spaces.
  • Quality control and calibration performance.
  • Performs post-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, reporting results (including highly abnormal results) in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provides and acts on technical and support information related to the elements of laboratory testing for all age groups, neonatal through geriatric patients.
  • Follows appropriate safety policies including the appropriate use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling.
  • Demonstrates understanding and adheres to Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies.
  • Employee job duties may include transport of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure area.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Requires an Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution and minimum of 1 years of experience of Medical Technology and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) ; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current PR Certified Medical Technologist license and registration upon hire from “Junta Examinadora de Tecnólogos Médicos de Puerto Rico.
  • Active member of “Colegio de Tecnólogos Médicos de Puerto Rico”.
  • For associates working within Puerto Rico who are member or patient facing either in a clinical setting or in the Best Transportation unit, a current PR health certificate and a current PR Law 300 certificate are required for this position.
