UX/UI Designer (AI Workflow & Product Experience)
Job Description
Clinically AI is a healthcare AI company transforming how clinicians, administrators, compliance teams, and healthcare organizations manage documentation, chart auditing, and operational workflows through artificial intelligence.
We are seeking a UX/UI Designer (AI Workflow & Product Experience) to shape the next generation of AI-native healthcare workflows and operational user experiences.
This is not a traditional visual design role focused only on polished interfaces or static design systems. This role sits at the intersection of workflow design, human-computer interaction, AI usability, operational systems thinking, and healthcare workflow optimization.
You will help design experiences that allow clinicians, administrators, compliance teams, and operational users to confidently integrate AI into their daily work. This includes reducing cognitive load, improving workflow clarity, designing AI-assisted interactions, and helping users trust and operationalize AI systems inside real-world healthcare environments.
The ideal candidate thinks deeply about workflows, systems, usability, behavior, and operational reality, not just screens. You should be excited by designing AI-native experiences where prompting, structured outputs, human review, workflow orchestration, and operational trust all matter.
This role will work closely with product, engineering, implementation, and leadership teams in a highly collaborative and fast-moving startup environment.
KEY ATTRIBUTES TO SUCCEED:
Workflow-Centered Design Thinking You think beyond interfaces and care deeply about how users actually move through operational workflows.
AI-Native UX Thinking You understand how AI changes interaction patterns, usability expectations, trust models, and workflow behavior.
Systems Thinking You understand how workflows, users, data structures, AI outputs, and operational processes connect together.
User Empathy You care deeply about reducing friction and improving usability for real users operating under pressure.
Collaboration & Communication You communicate effectively across product, engineering, implementation, and leadership teams.
Startup Adaptability You are comfortable iterating quickly, working through ambiguity, and refining workflows in real time.
REQUIRED:
4+ years of experience in UX, UI, product design, interaction design, or workflow design roles
Experience designing workflow-heavy or operational software products across web, mobile, or enterprise environments
Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality shipped UI work and strong systems thinking
Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams in fast-moving environments
Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows, conversational UX, structured outputs, or AI-native interfaces
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED (Nice to Have):
Healthcare technology or clinical workflow experience
Experience designing enterprise SaaS or operational platforms
UX engineering or frontend implementation experience (HTML/CSS, design tokens, etc.)
Familiarity with clinician-facing workflows, compliance systems, or administrative healthcare operations
Motion design or micro-interaction experience (SVG, Lottie, Rive, etc.)
This is a full-time hybrid role based in San Diego, CA, with onsite work required Monday through Thursday.
We offer competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, and flexible time off. The base salary range for this role is $95,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience, product design expertise, UI craft quality, systems thinking capability, demonstrated performance, and overall scope alignment. In certain cases, we may consider candidates outside of this range whose background in AI-native product design, enterprise SaaS design systems, or complex workflow-driven interface design strongly aligns with the needs of the role. This role may also include additional long-term incentive opportunities aligned with company growth and impact.
The interview process includes interviews focused on workflow design thinking, systems thinking, AI usability, interaction design craft, and collaboration approach. Final candidates may complete a design exercise focused on improving or extending an AI-assisted healthcare workflow experience.
Due to high interest, we will only respond to candidates who meet the basic qualifications.
