Laboratory Technician- Argo

Job Description

What We Are Looking For

Provide product quality control through sampling and analytical testing the various commodities stored at a terminal facility. 


What You Will Do

  • Customer reporting including analysis feedback reporting (SAP systems)
  • Manage sample retain and retention program.
  • Customer Quality Log development, record control and maintenance.
  • Generate Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents.
  • Perform routine cleaning/maintenance/repair on all lab equipment.
  • Inventory lab equipment supplies.
  • Coverage for other terminal lab technicians and personnel as necessary. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related Technical field or equivalent work experience may be used as an equivalent.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • 1-3 year minimum experience performing and detailed knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methodology, preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years work experience testing lab samples with automated equipment is preferred. Preference of work experience in the petrochemical industry including field sampling of storage tanks.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization are essential.
  • High level of concentration and very detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, industrial hygiene and other industry regulations a major plus.
  • Experience with handling hazardous liquid chemicals.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word and Excel.
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Superior work ethic and dependability.
  • Excellent mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and percentages) are required
  • Perform testing of customer commodities in accordance with approved methods utilizing laboratory testing apparatus or equipment and ASTM standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of all laboratory equipment including prescribed standardization and calibration checks and adjustments.
  • Determine and monitor products to ensure that product integrity is maintained in accordance with regulatory guidelines and product specifications.
  • Obtain and test tank, truck, line and pipeline samples in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Interact with field operations and control room personnel to report testing results to assure quality control of customer commodities.
  • Prepare and issue accurate laboratory reports and logs as required by customers and management.
  • Maintain accurate database records utilizing standard computer software applications.
  • Successful completion of a background check, physical and drug screen upon offer.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

 

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions as outside work is mandatory year round.
  • Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hat, goggles, rain gear, steel toe boots), and qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Willingness and ability to work alternate shifts and overtime as required, including holidays, nights and weekends.
  • Shift schedule could change due to work load or more staffing.

 


Pay Range

USD $30.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
