Introduction
We are seeking a Field Application Engineer (EMEA) to support and drive customer engagements with leading Industrial, Aerospace & Defense (A&D) and Integrated Device Manufacturer (IDM) customers across Europe. This is a customer-facing, technical individual contributor role, responsible for enabling design wins by bridging customer requirements with MIPS’ product portfolio, including processor IP, software tools and custom silicon solutions.
Your Job
Customer Technical Engagement
Act as the primary technical interface for customers during pre-sales and early development phases
Support customer engineering teams in evaluating and adopting MIPS solutions
Provide hands-on technical guidance on: Processor IP integration, Software toolchains and development environments and System architecture considerations
Design-In & Design Win Support
Drive design-in activities at assigned customers and design houses
Support technical discussions to secure design wins for: CPU IP licensing, Custom silicon programs and solutions. Assist customers in transitioning from evaluation to implementation
Solution Enablement Help Customers Understand and Implement MIPS’ Value Proposition
Open RISC‑V architecture flexibility
Multi-threaded, high-performance compute
Functional safety-ready solutions
Support system-level optimization for performance, power and cost
Technical Problem Solving
Troubleshoot and resolve customer technical issues across hardware and software domains
Work closely with internal engineering teams to escalate and address complex challenges
Ensure timely resolution of customer issues to maintain project momentum
Collaboration with Sales & Business Development
Partner with Business Development to support opportunity creation and closure
Provide technical input to proposals, RFIs, and customer presentations
Translate customer requirements into actionable feedback for product and engineering teams
Ecosystem & Market Support
Support engagement with ecosystem partners (software, EDA, design services)
Participate in customer workshops, demos, and industry events
Help position MIPS solutions within the broader semiconductor ecosystem in EMEA
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree in an engineering discipline or similar
5-10+ years in Field Application Engineering, Applications Engineering or Design Engineering
Experience in Semiconductor IP, SoC/ASIC development, or embedded systems, Industrial, A&D or IDM electronics or related markets
Proven track record supporting customer engagements and design wins
Strong understanding of Industrial, A&D or IDM electronic architectures (MCUs, SoCs, domain/zonal controllers)
Familiarity with: Processor architectures, Embedded software development (compilers, SDKs, OS) and System-level design and integration
Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate independently in a field-based role
Hands-on technical mindset with strong debugging capability
Ability to bridge technical depth with customer business needs
Fluent in English (Written & Verbal: C1)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with RISC‑V ecosystem or CPU IP integration
Prior experience supporting automotive OEMs or Tier‑1 suppliers in Europe
Experience with custom silicon or SoC development flows
Understanding of functional safety standards or design requirements in A&D
