Job Description

Salary £51,356-£55,612 Per Annum | 37 hours per week | Temporary, Full time | Preston, Lancashire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary Team Manager post within the Adoption Support Team at Adoption Lancashire and Blackpool (ALB).

Adoption Lancashire and Blackpool is the Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) for Lancashire, Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen local Authorities. The RAA recruits, assesses, approves and supports prospective adopters, family finds for children who have a plan of adoption, and provides adoption support services.

Following Blackburn with Darwen Council joining ALB, we are pleased to be expanding our Regional Adoption Agency. This growth has created a number of new social worker positions and has enabled us to strengthen leadership and management capacity. We currently have a temporary vacancy for a Team Manager within our Adoption Support Service. This role will form part of a team of three Team Managers.

The Team Managers will collectively deliver the Adoption Support function of ALB, which includes Adoption Support Services, Access to Records, Mailbox, ASGSF-funded therapeutic support, and the ALB Universal and Community Offer. In addition, there will be an element of Family Finding management oversight within the wider Team Manager cohort, offering broader service exposure and opportunities for professional learning and development.

Expressions of interest are invited from experienced professionals with a strong background in social work practice. This opportunity may suit those looking to step into a management role for the first time, as well as those considering a sideways move from an existing leadership position. This post is temporary for a fixed term of up to 12 months.

You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. Further information can be found on the 'Our Recruitment Process' tab.

Interviews will take place on 24th or 25th June 2026.
