This is a Part-Time 1716 Union Position.
The examination will consist of rating your training and experience as contained on your application. The examination may also include a written test, an oral test, physical swimming examination, or a combination thereof. All parts of the examination, including tests and ratings, will be related to the requirements of the position. The test is designed to measure:
Knowledge of:
- Rescue methods and first-aid as applied to accidents in the water and surrounding areas.
Ability to:
- Teach swimming and lifesaving methods;
- Enforce regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public;
- Prevent dangerous situations from arising, to recognize emergencies, and to take the necessary action.
Skill in:
- Swimming, and in rescue, resuscitation and first aid administration.
Applicants must be sixteen (16) years of age or older.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Lifeguard Series:

Lifeguards will automatically go Senior Lifeguard at the start of their third season, step 0 ($22.38/hour), provided they worked a minimum four (4) months in the past two calendar years.
