Job Description

Laboratory operations, administration, and coordination. Coordinate day-to-day administrative and operational activities for the laboratory, including purchasing and procurement, equipment inventory and maintenance, supply management, surplus and asset tracking, and coordination with University service units. Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of staff, students, visiting scientists, and new laboratory members in laboratory procedures, equipment use, safety expectations, and operational workflows. Under the direction of the PI, support implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures to promote laboratory safety, efficiency, quality control, and regulatory compliance. Research support, experimental coordination, and data organization. Support research experiments and methods under the direction of the PI and other laboratory investigators, including assistance with animal research protocols, biological specimen collection and processing, laboratory assays, sample tracking, and data organization. Help coordinate experimental workflows, maintain accurate records of sample collection and study procedures, and assist with documentation needed to support ongoing research projects. Maintain research facilities and equipment, coordinate preventive maintenance and service contracts, and work with vendors or University service units to address equipment or facility needs. Regulatory compliance, protocol coordination, and biological materials management. Coordinate storage, inventory, handling, and shipment of biological specimens, cryogenically stored cells, and chemical or biological materials in accordance with applicable University, biosafety, chemical safety, and regulatory requirements. Assist with preparation, submission, and maintenance of IACUC, biosafety, chemical safety, and related compliance protocols. Track required approvals, renewals, amendments, inspections, and documentation to help ensure that laboratory activities remain compliant with University and sponsor requirements. Safety inspections, training compliance, and technical support. Under the direction of the PI, assist with preparation for and participation in laboratory safety inspections, including annual RLSS inspections and bi-annual IACUC inspections of laboratory spaces. Help monitor education, certification, and training requirements for laboratory personnel and assist with maintaining training records. Provide general technical support to laboratory members, including assistance with basic laboratory techniques, equipment use, sample organization, and routine laboratory troubleshooting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: General knowledge of professional principles, theories, and concepts related to the assigned area of work. Knowledges of job function and general understanding of the industry practices, techniques, and standards.
