Position Purpose:
The Coordinator is responsible for the assisting with the day-to-day operation of the CT Department, locally or system wide. The Coordinator works closely with Administrative and Physician leadership to maintain efficient and effective operations, insure quality and promote change. The CT Clinical Operations Coordinator works also with the CT Education Coordinator to develop and maintain educational programs for the CT staff.
Shift Available: Monday - Friday, Day shift, No weekends, holidays or call
Status Available: Full Time, 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
Registered as a Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Advanced certification in CT
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Five years CT experience preferred
Must have good working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
Must be proficient in venipuncture
Must know methods to set up and operate CT equipment, with an emphasis on reduction in patient radiation dose (ALARA – As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
What the Clinical Operations Coordinator will do:
Reviews written procedures and policies of the department for appropriateness with the assistance of the manager and radiologists.
Provides feedback to the manager for performance reviews.
Acts as a resource and assists in developing quality improvement plans.
Able to perform the duties of a CT Technologist. Maintains a constant awareness of the day to day activities on the floor and in the Reichert Health Building and Canton Health Building. Fills in in times of shortages and illness or personal emergencies (as needed). Oversees lunch hour and break times with the assistance of the in charge techs.
Participates/collaborates and/or acts as a resource to various committees and organizations as it relates to imaging and/or patient care within the department, hospital and community.
Promotes standards of care and service excellence in accordance with SJMH philosophy and strategic goals.
Assumes responsibility for the performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, patients and visitors.
Maintains a high level of knowledge of hospital information systems, including PACS
Maintains the confidentiality, according to HIPPA guidelines, of information acquired pertaining to patients, physicians, employees and visitors to SJMHS. Discussed patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriate private places.
Manages radiation safety within the department
Reports all incidents/issues/concerns involving patient care to the manager immediately (e.g. excessive wait times, wrong exam performed, exam was not performed properly, exam identified incorrectly, contrast reactions).
Takes appropriate corrective action to resolve problems.
The operations coordinator will act as a liaison to the emergency department, helping to ensure that patient exams are performed and reported in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
