Job Description

 

27J Schools is seeking a school psychologist/school social worker to serve as a halftime (.5) Affective Needs (AN) Mental Health Provider.

The school psychologist/school social worker supports elementary and middle school students with significant social-emotional and behavioral challenges. Students receive individualized academic instruction, mental health support, and embedded social-emotional learning in a highly structured environment. The program emphasizes skill-building, restorative practices, and family collaboration to help students access learning and transition to less restrictive settings.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct developmental, psychological, and behavioral assessments to inform individualized intervention plans and IEPs across early childhood and elementary/middle school settings.
  • Provide direct support in social-emotional learning, mental health interventions, functional communication, and behavior strategies tailored to each age group.
  • Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and provide coaching to staff on consistent implementation of supports.
  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving with teachers, related service providers, families, and mental health professionals to support student growth and skill generalization.
  • Utilize play-based, relationship-centered interventions for early childhood students and structured approaches for elementary/middle school students.
  • Support transitions, inclusion opportunities, and generalization of skills across classroom and school settings.
  • Provide family coaching and consultation to reinforce skill development at home.
  • Lead or support professional development for staff on social-emotional learning, mental health strategies, and behavior interventions.

 

Qualifications

  • Master's or Specialist degree (Ed.S., Ph.D., or Psy.D.) in School Psychology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) School Psychologist license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience supporting early childhood students and elementary/middle school students with significant social-emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior supports.
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and engage in problem-solving to support student success.
