Job Requirements

Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assessing surgical dressings, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position requires careful observation and communication of patient status to accurately identify needs and facilitate appropriate care, while collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patient safety and comfort. Additional responsibilities include supporting patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, maintaining patient rooms and medical supplies, providing wound care and management of orthopedic devices, monitoring blood glucose levels, and promptly responding to patient alarms. The technician strictly adheres to established safety protocols, promotes cost-efficient care practices, and actively contributes to optimizing patient flow, performing all other duties as assigned in a full-time capacity.



Work Experience

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, possess current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Although prior experience is not mandatory, preference will be given to candidates with direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting. Successful applicants will exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team, and show proficiency in prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities under pressure. Furthermore, candidates should be capable of learning and utilizing computer systems, accurately performing blood glucose testing and documentation, and effectively executing delegated nursing tasks that address the varied needs of patients.
