What you’ll do at DBH:

  • Serve in a fundamental role as an interdisciplinary treatment team member for psychiatric patients creating and executing treatment plans

  • Observe, evaluate, and record patient behavior, condition, & response to medication and treatment

  • As charge nurse, initiate and direct psychiatric and nursing care for patients and provide support and direction for nursing staff while promoting a positive and safe environment for recovery

  • Contributes vital input on records, plans, and reports

  • Facilitate patient group activities

  • Utilize approved de-escalation techniques, support behavioral plans, and respond effectively to emergencies

  • Provide supportive interactions, encourage coping skills, and maintain a safe and structured environment

  • Promote dignity, respect, patient rights, and trauma-informed practices

This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 13 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 1st shift (7:00am to 3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:00pm to 11:30pm), and 3rd shift (11:00pm to 7:30am).  This position is located at our Northwest Ohio Behavioral Healthcare location, located at 930 South Detroit Avenue Toledo, Ohio 43614-2701.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Established Term Appointments (ETA) are scheduled to meet the needs of the hospital with no guarantee of hours, shifts or assignment location. An Established Term Appointment (ETA) will have a length of appointment not to exceed ten (10) months consecutively.

Position Qualifications:

Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.
