Research Assistant
Job Description
The Research Technician is a member of the Cell and Developmental Biology Department within Basic Sciences at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor who will use single cell RNAseq data and molecular genetic methods to investigate synapse formation in the nervous system of C. elegans. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician interacts with students, staff, and faculty within the laboratory.
This position will provide an opportunity to learn methods for collecting and analyzing single cell RNAseq data (scRNA-seq), molecular genetics and live cell imaging in the model organism, C. elegans. Activities: Collect and analyze scRNA-Seq data; Operate fluorescence microscopes to monitor GFP expression in nematode cultures; Maintain transgenic nematode strains and databases.
