Job Description

As a Senior Environmental Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑impact municipal water and wastewater projects across Kansas City and the surrounding region. You’ll partner with senior subject‑matter experts and project managers to shape project direction, solve complex design challenges, and bring sustainable solutions to life for our clients and communities. What You’ll Do Lead the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, conveyance systems, pump stations, solid waste facilities, and other systems of moderate to high complexity. Review and sign off on design documents and reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure all project work follows firm policies, quality standards, and best practices. Conduct site visits and field investigations to verify design conditions and refine project requirements. Update and adjust design criteria as needed based on project data or evolving conditions. Perform water quality analyses and modeling. Contribute to our firm’s technical knowledge base through white papers, design documentation, and specialized studies. Prepare and submit technical papers for publication and present at industry conferences and symposia. Collaborate with sales teams to develop proposals and respond to RFPs. Meet with clients to understand their current and future design needs. Support business development by helping elevate the firm’s visibility at conferences, workshops, and client engagements. Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers; may supervise engineering staff on project assignments.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related discipline (equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree) Professional engineering (PE) license. 10+ years of related experience in an engineering capacity, for water services. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading technical discussions and presenting solutions to clients. Experience with design, bidding, and construction services for municipal infrastructure projects.
Skills & Abilities

Proficiency with CADD, 3D/4D modeling tools, and engineering design software Strong understanding of engineering design principles Skilled with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations

USD $100,214.00
