Pastoral Care Coordinator
Purpose of Role
The Pastoral Care Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment within the school community. This position involves working closely with students, staff, and parents to promote the well-being and holistic development of all students, ensuring they are emotionally and socially prepared to succeed in their academic and personal lives.

Key Responsibilities of Pastoral Care Coordinator at Mosaic
As a Pastoral Care Coordinator, you provide individualized support and counselling to students experiencing personal, social, or academic challenges. You develop and implement programs and initiatives that promote students' well-being and resilience. Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation among students when necessary. And maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive student information.
You are accountable for delivering on the desired outcomes in each of the components listed below, and the ongoing development of the school and learning improvement.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing. You are responsible for the safety and wellbeing for all students and adults. This includes all activities, functions and policies to ensure students and adults are kept safe both physically and mentally enabling them to learn without barriers. You work in partnership with your colleagues to learn from their feedback and you collaborate on action plans and improvements to ensure that the Primary is compliant.
Partnership with ISP. You are committed to working in partnership with ISP, specifically with the Regional Director of Learning and, when required, and other members of your Regional Team. You harness the potential of the ISP network through building and nurturing collaborative relationships with colleagues in other ISP schools. You understand and value ISP’s role as a trusted advisor and resource to support you in your role as a learning leader. You see the school as part of the group and articulate the added value of being an ISP school to your teams. You understand your collective responsibility to the school and ISP, successfully balancing the school’s interests with ISP’s purpose and principles.
Partnership with Parents, Carers and the wider community. You lead the Primary in the building of effective relationships; you understand our students and their families and you focus on identifying opportunities to provide value to students and their families beyond their expectations; you will seek regular feedback from Parents through surveys and meetings, fostering a culture of partnership; you seek opportunities to help parents and carers understand the school’s shared ideas about learners and learning; you are accessible and available to parents and carers and ensure their individual needs are understood and that they feel informed and involved as valued members of the school’s learning community.
Communication and Admissions. With the Principal and the Head of admissions, you are involved with the Primary’s retention and progression strategies, actively working to ensure the retention of existing students as well as the attraction of new students; you are a clear and compelling storyteller, articulating the vision and story of the Primary School and ISP in a way that inspires parents, students and colleagues; you ensure that prospective families have the best and most personalised experience possible during the admissions process; you lead in the management of open days and work with colleagues on initiatives that promote Mosaic.
More specifically the Pastoral Care at Mosaic will work on :
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support for students.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child’s well-being and any concerns.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and case conferences as needed.
- Act as a liaison between the school, families, and healthcare providers.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, support provided, and any incidents.
- Prepare regular reports on pastoral care activities and student well-being trends.
- Use data to identify areas of need and develop targeted interventions.
Staff Support and Development:
- Provide training and support for staff on pastoral care issues, including mental health awareness and effective communication.
- Foster a culture of care and support among the staff, promoting their well-being.
- Act as a resource for staff dealing with student pastoral issues.
School Community Involvement:
- Promote a positive school culture that values inclusivity, respect, and empathy.
- Lead initiatives to engage the wider school community in pastoral care efforts.
- Organize and participate in school events that foster community spirit and student engagement.
Health at school :
- Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries and acute illnesses.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
- Manage chronic health conditions, including diabetes, asthma, and allergies.
Health Screenings and Assessments :
- Assess students' health needs and develop individualized health plans.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Compassionate and approachable, with a genuine concern for the well-being of students.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Collaborative and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proactive and innovative in developing and implementing support programs
- Qualified Teacher Status (or recognised international equivalent).
- Evidence of further professional development study / training to completion.
- Proven capability to lead successfully at Section, Deputy or whole school level.
- Proven capability re school organisation and administration responsibilities
- Proven capability to ensure outstanding learning opportunities for students.
- Proven capability to work effectively as a member of a Team in a coordinating or leadership role.
- Proven capability to work effectively within a Line reporting structure.
- Proven ability to fulfil all Safeguarding responsibilities.
