Senior Staff Hardware Engineer
Job Description
About Marvell
Marvell’s semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities.
At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead.
Your Team, Your Impact
MBE (Multi‑Market Business Engineering) is Marvell’s cross‑market engineering organization, delivering scalable software and platform solutions for MBG and CCS customers across enterprise, cloud, networking, and storage markets. What You Can Expect
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented EVB Hardware Development Engineer with hands-on experience in both FPGA development and hardware system design. This role primarily focuses on FPGA coding and firmware integration for evaluation boards (EVBs) and customer reference boards (CRBs) targeting advanced SoC/ASIC platforms, with secondary involvement in board-level hardware design and bring-up.
You will work closely with SoC/ASIC design teams, firmware engineers, and validation teams to deliver robust reference platforms for internal and customer use. The ideal candidate has solid FPGA development skills, with a working knowledge of high-speed interfaces (DDR4/DDR5, PCIe Gen4/5/6, SerDes), power delivery networks, and board-level debugging.
Responsibilities
- [Primary] FPGA Development: Lead FPGA coding (Verilog/VHDL) for EVB/CRB platforms, including RTL design, simulation, synthesis, and timing closure.
- [Primary] FPGA Integration: Develop and maintain FPGA-based interface logic to support SoC/ASIC bring-up, validation, and customer demonstrations.
- [Secondary] Hardware Design: Participate in schematic review, PCB layout review, and component selection for EVB/CRB platforms.
- Perform board bring-up, signal integrity validation, and system-level debugging.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support SoC/ASIC validation and customer reference designs.
- Generate technical documentation including FPGA design specs, schematics, BOMs, test procedures, and design guides.
- Interface with vendors and manufacturing teams for prototype builds and production support.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in hardware development, especially in SoC/ASIC-based systems.
- Strong knowledge of FPGA development (e.g., Xilinx/Intel FPGA), including RTL coding (Verilog/VHDL), simulation, and timing closure.
- Familiarity with DDR4/DDR5, PCIe Gen4/5/6, SerDes, and high-speed layout practices is a plus.
- Experience with FPGA EDA tools (e.g., Vivado, Quartus) is required; SI/PI simulation tools (e.g., Sigrity, HyperLynx) is preferred.
- Proficient in lab equipment usage (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, VNA).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Friendly, easygoing personality with a strong sense of teamwork.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Passionate about emerging technologies and continuous learning.
