Provide electrical power transmission system, congestion, and price forecasting analysis to effectively hedge the Node-to-Hub delivery basis risk for Luminant's nuclear, coal, gas, and renewable generation assets.
Identify and execute speculative CRR and DAM Point-to-Point trading opportunities by assessing transmission congestion patterns, generation and load developments, and the performance of the electric grid in both near-term and long-term horizons.
Provide transmission market and congestion risk viewpoints to Trading, Origination, Development, Commercial Operations, and Regulatory Affairs to support asset optimization, commercial decision-making, and market design initiatives.
Develop, maintain, and enhance production cost and transmission models used to forecast power prices, congestion patterns, asset values, and the impacts of generation, transmission, and load changes across organized electricity markets.
Perform transmission planning and power system studies using industry-standard tools and ISO/RTO planning data to evaluate the impacts of new transmission projects, generation additions and retirements, large load developments, and network topology changes.
Design and maintain quantitative analytics, databases, and software tools that transform large volumes of market, transmission, and operational data into actionable insights for trading and risk management activities.

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field required. Advanced degree preferred.
1-3 years of relevant experience in power markets, transmission planning, production cost modeling, congestion analysis, power system analysis, or optimization. Relevant Ph.D. research in power systems, electricity markets, or optimization may be considered equivalent to 1–2 years of industry experience.
Hands-on experience with production cost modeling tools (e.g., PROMOD, PLEXOS, UPLAN, Dayzer) and a strong understanding of nodal theory, including Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP), shadow prices, shift factors, and binding transmission constraints.
Strong understanding of transmission systems and ISO/RTO market operations, including power flow and contingency analysis using industry-standard tools such as PowerWorld or PSS®E
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights from large datasets.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
